OK, I rebooted the machine again, *sigh* this reminds me of 98SE, and turned off all screensavers. Now I will wait for a couple days and then turn them back on and see what happens after the test period. I'll have the date in this post to remember by........

Edgar,
My fish are gone again, here is the time frame. After the last reboot I waited 2 days before setting or running any screensaver, but they are still gone after about the same 25 day period. The 2 days didn't make any difference. Michael, I expected this to happen. So the problem had nothing to do when you started running the screensaver.
I have an idea that could cause your problem. But of course testing this after the fix would be difficult to do, because I don't have a system that I leave running continously. Have you rebooted yet? If you haven't and you don't mind doing some test, I can send you a few test program to know exactly what is going on. |

Edgar,
Any Win2k box left running for 24 days will experience this. Could you possibly produce a build of the Aquarium that spits out a diagnostic log file? Or better yet set up a machine there running win2k and the Aquarium and debugger. Then you can test it.

I will suggest that to Jim(Schnaaps) so we can have a test system.

Michael,
Were you only testing the MD versions of the screensaver or did you test the normal version also? |

Sorry Edgar, I didn't think to try the older version. I don't even have it installed on that machine. I tried Goldfish and Sharks, which were both already there and got the same results, neither would run.

No problem. I will do what Morgan suggested. I will set up a machine to reproduce the problem.
In fact, I think I do have work computer running for more than a month now without a reboot. It is an XP. That might be enough for me to test. I just connect to it by remote desktop when I need to from home where I normally work. |

Michael, were you running the screensaver non-stop 24/7?

No, it just comes on after ~10 minutes or so. Then monitor sleep comes on after ~ 30 minutes. But, let my system run for 25 days without a reboot and none of the screen savers will run anymore. All I get is a black screen.

Michael,
I have the fix to this bug. I will let Jim (Shnaaps) know. I have to generate new executables to all our screensavers. It is a common code that has the problem. That is why none of them worked. Thanks for finding this bug. |

Cool. I thought maybe the fish were just tired.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
