Beta testers

How do I become a beta tester? I am anxious to see how version 2 looks. Thanks. :)

Good luck, I've asked on at least two occasions and never even been replied too... :erm:

Beta testing usually goes on the premise of what operating system you are running, and a few other paramaters. As far as I know, everything is about already covered in general and no other testers are really needed at this point. You may get an answer or you may not. Realize that Beta testing can also goof up and cause problems that you would need to figure out and fix yourself. Thats the nature of the "testing" part.

If you put "May cause spontaneous combustion." in the disclaimer, people would still download the Beta. They want to see something new that bad!

I using WINXP wSR2, so I'm guessing it's unlikely they will let me beta test v2. It was worth a try though. ;) Thanks for your reply guys.

I agree, I have been around from the start so I try very hard to stay away from those "When will ....... be released" threads.

I've got more than a dozen systems in my house, I can test on a Mac Mini, PCs, different generation ATI, Nvidia, and Matrox GPUs, dinky onboard video from multiple vendors, dual monitor support, triple monitor support, widescreen, Intel, AMD, AMDx64, and that's just off the top of my head... I'm a frickin' resource... :D

But in all reality I'm not looking for that much work, all I really want is to see the new stuff before anyone else... ;) I'm selfish that way, I'd probably make a terrible beta tester...

And I was just about to send you the link...

drfish 06-17-2005 09:13 AM

Darn! :p Either way's ok with me, I can't honestly say that my testing would consist of much more than confirming that it works or doesn't work... Which might be enough, I don't know... If it requires a lot of time I probably couldn't commit to it... The screenshot Jav posted in the other thread is stellar though! When 2.0 comes out I'll probably fork over the cash for a copy since I wasn't sold on the first attempt...

There are generally bugs in anything new, and there have been several problems found in this new version that are currently being worked on and ironed out. Testing has its rewards, but it also has its problems, and is generally alot more than just looking at something new.

patscarr 06-17-2005 12:04 PM

Doc's not a beta tester? That's odd.

Rewards,....definitely! And I agree with the problems too. Betatesting some of the top games back in the 90's burned me out for awhile because of the late nights and deadlines. But overall a very fullfilling experience! :)

feldon34 06-18-2005 08:00 AM

By popular demand, drfish is now a beta tester.

patscarr 06-18-2005 11:04 AM

:)

I not sure what I did, but you are welcome. :D Happy beta testing.

So are beta testers allowed to post screen shots? :)

Generally not, no.

Wizwad 06-20-2005 07:08 PM

Wow - rocks and plants and fish! :D

I don't think I need to drool too much over Goldfish - I've got room at my new pad to think about a proper pond, so I'll be reviewing the suggestions that have been made here in the past. Thanks guys - without your input I wouldn't even be considering this; not seriously anyhow. :TU:
