If you get a chance to get a better card like a GeForce 2 MX400, go for it. If you shop around you can scoop one up for $30.

I doubt the Rage card (7 year old technology) will run the Freshwater.

what about ati radeon 9000 series?

Jav400 10-08-2003 09:18 AM

Check Here for the latest information on video cards and how they compare.

feldon34 10-08-2003 10:37 AM

Considering Radeon 9000's came out less than 2 years ago and cost $200, I think you're safe. :)

I hope your PC is doing better Jim.
A good lightweight Free Anitvirus prog is AVG
at grisoft.com
Also, good idea to use a firewall like Zonealarm which also has a free version.
Hope all is well now,

Are ya gonna be able to feed the fishies?????

I wanna feed em!

IXNAY 10-16-2003 01:47 AM

Hey Jim, some news? What are you doing on the Tank right now?

Jim Sachs 10-18-2003 09:05 PM

I was finally able to get online with my main machine for the first time in 3 weeks, since my Total Hardware/Software Meltdown. I got some of my programs re-installed, but don't know where I got half the things I was using - must have been downloaded from somewhere. I'm very close to looking for a less frustrating line of work.

Oh, great. Here comes another Windows message - "System shutdown is initiated by NT Authority System".

Bye.....

Oh no :( hope everything gets better by now

Marian Nichols 11-04-2003 05:05 PM

So how is the machine coming, that is if you have been able to get back home yet, due to the fires.

Enigma 11-04-2003 06:07 PM

Jim,

The "System shutdown is initiated by NT Authority System" could be a sign of the Blaster worm. Do you keep Windows updated with the latest security patches?

cjmaddy 11-04-2003 06:54 PM

I think you should read the FIRES!!! thread. ..... It may be a little while before things get back to normal!

He is not on broadband. I'm sure many of us would be happy to burn a CD of all the necessary updates and send it.

Just discovered these forums even though I bought Marine Aquarium over a year ago. Sorry to hear that you have problems with your computer, Jim... just keep up the good work :) I'm really looking forward to this new freshwater version.

Btw... I've been a fan of your work since the Amiga days... are you in any way involved in the new release of Defender of the crown or have u left the game industry?

Yellow Tang 11-24-2003 09:29 AM

Welcome to the forum, Icarus! I just wonder why there is no response here, or at least a bunch of welcome posts?
As far as I know, Jim has given the 'Defender of the crown' rights to another company which has released the gameboy advance version.
We all hope, that Jim can continue with the freshwater aquarium soon.

Marian Nichols 11-24-2003 11:33 AM

You are so right, there should be loads of welcomes, this is the first I've seen of this post and we are notified by email, so a belated welcome aboard, you will love it, I promise.

ESHIREY 11-24-2003 12:03 PM

Like Marian said , you will love the people here . We are a great bunch . :TU:
