F7 - Fullscreen / Windowed

Fantastic!

Jim,

Congratulations on all your hard work!

Everything looks great and is working perfectly on my system: Macbook Pro 2.2GHz 2G mem. NVidia GForce 8600M with 256M of onboard memory running Windows Vista 64bit via Bootcamp.

After opening up the program it looked so good I HAD to immediatley hook the computer up to my Samsung 40" LCD. Everything just popped up automatically and worked perfectly.

And WOW the artistry is incredible.

Thank you!

Stew,

Those are testing controls that we used before. Most likely they will be removed in the final release version.

vochore 10-11-2008 08:24 AM

running fantastic on my system sofar but was hoping to add some of my own music...what format does it have to be in to work....already tryed to add an mp3 file and that locked it up solid.

rctneil 10-11-2008 08:28 AM

I have had several mp3's in the list and they all seems to work fine over here. Maybe your mp3 file was DRM protected?

Stew2000 10-11-2008 08:54 AM

I tried mp3 and it didn't work. midi files work though.

New background BETA1

I am reporting BETA#1 works well on my Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop. The graphic and PC specs are:
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, 32 bit, 1920 x 1200
Windows XP Pro, SP-2, 1GB memory, about 4GB remaining disc space.

It runs full wide screen at about 70 fps.

Although the background is more expansive and better, I am a bit disappointed because during forum in past years, we discussed about Marine Aquarium may get "animated" background (moving anemones or live coral movements etc... The new version does not have that as far as I can tell. I like the music, and it would be wonderful if it can be selectable from MP3 files.

Ingogringo 10-11-2008 08:59 AM

Wonderful!
Even better than the real thing!

Jim Sachs 10-11-2008 10:31 AM

lannp - I know that with so many messages, it's hard to keep up, but as I've often said - The purpose of the Beta is to work out the major bugs and to allow the fans to be a part of the development process. Once the bugs are fixed, I'll replace the fish with my new-style models which have higher resolution, working mouths and gills, and a far greater repertoire of behavior. After that comes the process of bringing the background to life, one object at a time. Many people enjoy watching this development process, and wondering what new additions will be introduced each week.

Stew2000 10-11-2008 10:35 AM

Will we be able to zoom in and out in a later release?

Jim Sachs 10-11-2008 10:51 AM

Probably not. All the objects are like a Hollywood set - they only make sense when viewed from one angle. If the camera goes into the scene even slightly, major gaps and holes show up between objects.

henemly 10-11-2008 10:53 AM

Thanks Jim, looks super.

Additional Backgrounds

Beta works without a hitch. Excellent job. The only thing that would make it better is to be able to change the backgrounds like Dream Aquarium.

Thumbs up!!!

So maybe MA4 will have full 3D with panning camera? :D

Nah, Jim's going holographic for MA4! :D

Ex_Brit 10-11-2008 12:09 PM

It will also feed the dog, put the cat out, clean house and pour you a cocktail, all at the same time.
Let's get one working perfectly first, before even thinking about the next one.

I am really looking forward to viewing the entire aquarium at once. IMO slowly going back and forth is not realistic at all. I really appreciate all your hard work, and I am glad to finally get a glimpse of MA3. :)

Jim Sachs 10-11-2008 01:24 PM

You can always just switch to window mode and stretch the window wide.

That's what I've been doing. Thanks. :)
