Thx for explanation, & from yr link, Riva 128 sure sounds familiar from when I 1st got this machine near 2 yrs ago. And I did read the thread where someone bought the wrong card cos of no AGP slot, & my heart went out to him. Hell I don't want the same experience, but get heart-thud at just the thought of opening the case, so will read that thread again.

You're all so cluey on this forum, but maybe my lesson learned will benefit even one person - to keep an eye on any work on your computer, & maybe be wary of sending it away.
