Cool A long time ago.... 3D background

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...

We had a topic about whether Jim would continue to support now-ancient video cards like ATI Rage/Rage Pro/All-In-Wonder cards when he introduced the 3D background.

You've mentioned feather dusters, a living anemone, clams that open and close, a coral shrimp, eels, and a panning/scrolling background.

Jim, I was wondering if, since the march towards faster video cards continues and a sufficient video card to run even the most elaborate 3D background you could realize runs $40, how far will you go to maintain compatibility with older systems/cards?

Are you still holding that any fish you create/introduce/approve must look reasonably good (with minimal 'buzz') at 640x480 and 800x600 resolutions?

How do the tools Prolific has written for you affect this?
