Dudley,

Welcome to the forums! Forums are great because many people can provide answers and opinions and collaborate to find useful solutions.

There is no upgrade path for Microsoft Plus XP. Microsoft Plus XP was an aberration, a standalone version created 5 years ago. Originally Microsoft was going to put Plus XP out for the usual price of $20 and give consideration to SereneScreen, developer of the Aquarium, for each copy sold. At the last minute, they doubled the price of Plus XP to $40, redesigned the packaging to strongly feature the Aquarium (giving most people the impression they are buying a full product rather than a demo) and then Microsoft decided they didn't owe SereneScreen a penny for each copy sold.

All SereneScreen got for their trouble was thousands of angry e-mails from customers who got caught in the middle. The only way for SS to give a discount would be to basically give the product away for free (since 75% of the cost of each box goes to the manufacturer, distributor, and retailer).

The current version of the Aquarium is Marine Aquarium 2.6, which contains 28 fish (7 viewable at any one time) and has a nice control panel for selecting fish. I hope you will consider buying it and maybe give Plus XP to a friend who will be satisfied with it.

Microsoft's reputation for being cutthroat and predatory in the market is well-earned.
