Blue Screen on Dell w/WINXP
When I run serenescreen on my new Dell I get the BSOD after a few seconds into running it.
I have Windows XP (with all updates), 32MB ATI RAGE 128 Ultra (came with computer), SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio, and DX8.1 From event viewer I get the following: Error code 000000c2, parameter1 00000007, parameter2 00000cd4, parameter3 01030407, parameter4 e22a87f0. This happens with both .99 and 1.1. Anybody have this problem or a solution? Thanks. M |

Drivers.
Make sure you have the latest ATI RAGE 128 driver from www.ati.com, and the latest driver for the sound chipset. If you need more help, please let us know.

drivers
Yeah, I checked this on Dell (can't use the retail ATI drivers) and I have the lastest for both sound and video. This computer is brand new and even .99 doesn't work with it.

The only reason you wouldn't be able to use ATI's own drivers is if it's a laptop.
Can you please give us the model number?

model
Not a laptop. Computer model is Dell OptiPlex GX240. ATI card is ATI Rage Ultra 128 32MB using driver 6.13.3268.0000
Downloaded WXP_R128_6_13_3279.exe from ATI site which says is the Windows XP Display Driver for ATI RAGE 128 / RAGE128 PRO. Upon installation it says "The display driver is not compatible with the display adapter(s) installed in this system". I didn't see any other drivers from ATI's site that would match this card. Therefore, my assumption is that perhaps dell customized its driver for use with its system. I don't know that for sure, but I do know that dell offers their own version on their web site and no new release has been made. M |
