Are there any plans for a 3.1 mac upgrade?

There's no announcement to be made at this time regarding it. Typically, we get the code drop from Jim Sachs after he's finished with the Windows version. Then we evaluate what changed in the aquarium, settings UI, etc and determine what needs to be added/changed in the Mac version. Also have to take into account any deadlines we need to meet for a release (imposed by Prolific) and what other work we have on our plate at the time.

MA 3 releases

JimS did a really nice job on the eel. I hadn't seen it running until a couple hours ago when I let it out of the bag into the Mac version...

I may try to get a few more tweaks into the product.

For the record, Jim O is truly amazing. I just sent him the 16 files which had changed for the Moray Eel version after midnight, and he's already got a Mac version up and running. This includes translating everything from DirectX to OpenGL.

Mac App Store

Hello Jim,

Maybe it is an idea to distribute it through the Mac App Store? This way you might get more revenue and it becomes easier for us to install new versions when they become available...

Last time we looked into it the App Store only distributed straight applications, no screen savers. If that changes we'll definitely reconsider it.

Uhg. It IS an application. A marine aquarium simulation application, that can also be a screensaver. You've got to market it that way and do whatever it takes to get into the App Store and make yourselves some money! Someone is dropping the ball on this and losing money for everyone.

The eel is done, trying to clean up some other things which were in the 3.0 release I wasn't entirely pleased with.

Very cool! Another night owl, I guess! Thanks for the quick reply! Where will you announce the next upgrade - email, or shall I keep checking back in the forum?

News?

Any news on when the Moray Eel and other things from the latest Windows will make their way over to the Macintosh?

Please continue to support older Macs and MacOSs. I use a PowerBookG4 (5,8) and MacOSX10.4.11. Marine Aquarium looks great on it.

Please find a beta (drop dead date of 1/31/2012) at http://orderndev.com/downloads/MarineAquarium3-1.dmg

I would appreciate feedback on this build. It has both the screen saver and the application.

Thanks,
Jim

I started a separate thread for MA 3.2, and I uploaded a newer beta build. Please see that thread and use that newer build.
