GeForce 2 MX problems on Win2k
system spec:
abit via vh6 p3 800 mghz 786 ram pc133 (sorry if i can't add) 30gig 7,2 hd aureal vortex2 8830 geforce 2mx er, I had winME before using win2k and the fish program works great. After switching to win2k (and reinstalling the via 4in1 drivers and the appropriate vid drivers) my vid card can't run the aquarium nor any other direct 3d programs at 1000+ resolutions, even though i can set my desktop at 1000+ resolution. all direct 3d apps work at 800x600 or less. I set my monitor's refresh rate to 60 just incase of any monitor issues. Hmm, anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem? thanks for reading. Re: any suggestions?
I am assuming you are running version 12.41 of the drivers for your GeForce 2 and have then installed DirectX 8 on top?
Download 12.41 drivers here: www.reactorcritical.com/f...41-W2K.exe and then update to DirectX 8: www.microsoft.com/directx...efault.asp Please let us know if you have any more problems.

Re: re: any suggestions?
Install DX8 AND THEN the nVidia drivers. If DX8.1 is installed last, it will overwrite the nVidia drivers and the textures in the Aquarium may all turn white. Microsoft is looking into this.
Also, we have had a lot of people having trouble with D3D applications not exiting when using the latest nVidia drivers with Win2000. If you get a "NO Z-buffer" error after the first time you run the Aquarium, then it probably did not exit the first time. Going back to the 12.41 drivers which Morgan recommends seems to fix this.

Re: re: any suggestions?
DirectX 8.1 is not even available to the public yet. Only with the leaked Windows XP.
I do not recommend the DetonatorXP drivers (which are really version 21.81), especially on the Windows 2000 you're running. Please try the drivers I listed above in my first post using the procedures described. 6.67 or 12.41 should work.
