Catalyst 3.8(Smartshader)
Now we come to another brand new feature called Smartshader. Smartshader allows you to adjust the way your 3d graphics look. You can select some very nice effects from this Smartshader. Depending whether you select the smartshader menu from the DirectX menu or OpenGL, you get slightly different options for each, but the main options are Black and White, Classic, Porthole (my favourite) and sketch.
SmartShader Control Panel Here are some screenshots that shows off some of these effects. SmartShader Sketch http://www.technologyvault.co.uk/new...56401091.shtml SmartShader Porthole |

You'd think they would give SereneScreen a plug and put in a link.
Does nVidia have anything like this?
Asus P5E3 Premium, Q9550, 8G DDR3, Palit Radeon HD 4870, Windows 7

I've sent a polite e-mail. Hopefully they'll link to it. Although then they'd have to link the other ones. Looks like some kind of WWII flying sim is right below the Aquarium.

They've added a credit to SereneScreen.com for the Marine Aquarium snapshot.

I played with this about 3 years ago, but the cost for a card that would support it then was $1K plus.
This will be lot of fun. Imagine a filter that makes your screen into a Monet, or a cartoon.

Hrmph. Reminds me of 3DFX's T-Buffer. Totally useless. I suppose people will find a use for it.

Actually, 3DFX’s T-Buffer was BRILLIANT!
But no one knew how to use it. Basically it was in fact 4 buffers. But you could do some really interesting tricks (since it was hardware driven). A friend of mine (who founded and wrote the softwrre for PDI…Antz, Shrek, etc) designed the original version of this used by SGI. Example: With almost no energy, you can do full screen anti-aliasing. By writing selected 3d Objects you can anti-alias just some objects. With the same trick you can create depth of field. Things close and far away would be blurry. 3D is about 100 times faster (meaning with the glasses). It was basically a simple 2D pixel shader, that was set to 4 deep.

"We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another." /Robert Oppenheimer on witnessing the first thermonuclear detonation in history. |
