Does what we say stay online FOREVER

I can't help noticing that everything said on this site seems to linger on ad infinitum.
Is there ever a juncture at which our previously spoken words are extricated ? Or do they just hover over our heads like the proberbial Flaming Star 'til death comes ?

My goal is to always have enough space that deleting it is unnecessary.

There's no question that I've said things in the past that I wish I could erase. If there's a post you'd like moved to the Recycle Bin, please let me know.
