16 bit vs 32 bit color ?
Hello, new to the forum! If I change the setting from 16 bit to 32 bit the screensaver becomes oddly jerky. I know it must be more CPU intensive but I would like to know why there is not a 24 bit option?

16 or 32 bit colour will be completely dependant on your video card especially it's memory bandwidth, your CPU is irrelevant.
24 bit does not exist in 3D rendering (3 bytes per pixel isn't very data friendly), 32 bit is 24 bit colour with an 8 bit alpha (transparency) channel, however most moden cards actually do blending in floating point before reducing to final 32 bits. |
