Hi Sergio,
Welcome back! (unless you've just been lurking )
Thanks to Morgan, Tiny Snapshots is up and running again with "Tiny Järvafält" as the latest addition – Go have a look and tell me what you think.

"We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.'
I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.

Neatest part is the upcoming development period. Beta after beta, then enhancement after enhancement. Much more fun watching it grow than just downloading something and running it!

That's the plan, but you'd never know it from the lack of sales. Sure, most people lost almost everthing in the stock market today, but surely they have $20 left

Was wondering. DA has update method that contacts site for full download for licensed copy. Wouldn't this be applicable to MA3, given the intended updates after beta? Seems it would hamper people with non-legal key codes.

I've always thought MA3 should be treated as a unique release with a new charge. Look at Nero, etc. Twenty bucks is a very low price for the effort involved with a completely specialized product like this. Where else other than MA and DA can you contact the author and actually get a personal response?

I know of no other products that give as much "bang for the buck" and afford a continuing interest.

I just hope MA3 will accept PNG files right out-of-the-box in a selector window. They must be PNG-24 with exactly 256 x 256 resolution.

The current situation with MA2.6 is very confusing and I think most people give up after trying to create logos for it. Even avid readers of this forum have had problems getting logos to work, mostly due to the counterintuitive nature of the "Open File" feature in the Aquarium.

When someone clicks the "Open File" button within the program, the discover that it only accepts the inferior 1-bit BMP file format. It will not accept greyscale or color PNG files. Yet MA2.6 actually has unofficial, undocumented support for PNG files. But you must go digging around in your Aquarium folder, delete any BMP logo named Logo.dat or MA_Ext.p1p, and then drop correctly-formatted PNG files.

If MA3 does retain the same basic behavior of MA2.6, then I'll write a Marine Aquarium Logo Manager program for it.

I find it very easy to get a .png to MA2.6.
I don't know how easier Jim can make it O.o

Locating the folder that the Aquarium is installed in, deleting some hidden files, and dropping properly formatted PNG files is "as easy as Jim can make it?" If the PNG file does not follow the format exactly, it simply doesn't appear. Also, out-of-the-box, the Aquarium does not cycle through PNG logos. The settings must be changed for this to work.

And the user must completely refrain from using the built-in "Import Logo" button as this will interfere with PNG logos.

This is, by far, the #1 issue I receive e-mail about. It always takes 2-3 e-mails to explain to people and get them to understand that it is an unsupported feature that they have to use workarounds to use.

I have a comment about MA 2 that may have relevance to MA 3. My main reason for watching the MA is to study the beauty and details of the fish and corals. My least favorite effect is when fish and corals go into deep shadow. I could never figure out if this effect was purely artistic, or if it has something to do with preventing screen burn-in of the stationary objects and their patterns. I'd be happier if the fish were in shadow about half that length of time.
Will MA 3 have this effect, and will it be adjustable?

A little confusion; the price on the Serenscreen splashpage says $19.95 but when you follow the link it appears to be $14.95, unless I misunderstand something (and that's happened before ).

BTW, Jim, is there any news about my upgrade.

Regards
