Rainbow Fish
I would LOVE to see some Rainbow Fish. These are without a doubt some of the most beautiful fish available to the aquarium hobby today! I especially would like to see:
Glossolepis incisus: http://members.optushome.com.au/chelmon/Incisus.htm Melanotaenia boesemani: http://members.optushome.com.au/chelmon/Boesemani.htm Melanotaenia herbertaxelrodi: http://members.optushome.com.au/chelmon/Haxel.htm Pseudomugil furcatus: http://members.optushome.com.au/chelmon/Furcatus.htm What do you think, Jim? Any chance?

Yep the Uaru is the best Cichlid going (imho) very peaceful and grow a very nice size, the one I have at the moment is approx 8".I would love to have seen WShireys Uaru, very impressive!!!
Both the Uahu and Lima eat out of my hand. No Wizwad, that ain't no Eel skelaton or alien, it's what's left of my wife's hand after I asked her to feed the fish ) |

Hello, I'm new here and am about to order my first Serene Scene Marine Tank Screensaver (which will be more than a screen saver here in my home).
I'm a former 'Elfish' addict, and have been desperately looking for something to take it's place. Needless to say I've been waiting nearly 10 years. Anyway, here's what I'd love to see added to the Freshwater Aquarium package some day: 1.African Dwarf Frogs are aquatic creatures, diminutive and calm. 2.Apple Snails, such as the Black & Gold Mystery Snails and the Ram's Horn Snail. 3.Red Claw Crab, small, black with bright red claws. 4. Labyrinth's, such as the Gouramis and Bettas. 5. Most all the Cichlid in all their shapes and colors. 6. Catfish, especially the Plecos. 7. The Peacock Gudgeon. 8. AND most of all, the wonderful rainbow of Killiefish. The sad thing about keeping these beauties is that they are only seasonal, breeding, laying their eggs and dying when the draught dried up their ditches and watering holes. The eggs will survive this harshness, being revived when the rains return, hatching and starting the whole lifestyle all over again. If some of these could be incorporated someday into the Freshwater screensaver I would be so very happy. This would be perfect for someone like myself that doesn't want to get attached to something that comes and goes in one season! A friend of mine has these and I would love to have them too, but without having to handle 'live' food to keep them alive. I have always filled my fish tanks with lush plants such as Java Moss, Java Fern, Cabomba, Hornwort and Anubias. For some nice pics of these sort of fish and plants, I'd suggest taking a look at the Fish Gallery at http://www.ekkwill.com/fishgallery.html Well, enough from me... can't wait to start my own computer Saltwater Tank, and then hopefully a Goldfish and Freshwater Tank too. P.S. Jim, thank you for creating such a wonderful program. |

Thank you for the welcome, Jav.
I've been lurking here for the last 2 years and have had to put it off till our computer was equipped with better hardware to handle the wonderful graphics. I know I'll enjoy them, and so will my family. |

Killifish & Bumblebee Goby
I misspelled Killifish in my above intro and wanted to correct this, and share the official website for the AKA (American Killifish Association) site:
http://www.aka.org/ For those of you who may never have seen these beauties, check out their Gallery. If you appreciate the beauty and variety of Guppies I'm sure you will find these to be the 'royal' version, though they are not related. These are egg layers. I've never had the pleasure to house the Bumblebee Goby either, but always wanted one. Since my freshwater aquariums had some bullies like African Cichlids, these 1 1/2 inch cuties might have been viewed as 'food'! They are little toughies themselves, but just too small for the big mouths I had to feed. Here's a few sites that have nice pics: http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/gbumble.html http://www.aquazoo.co.uk/page.cfm/Type=Fish/ID=239 And just an added thought, if Terrariums are ever created, maybe a few Mudskippers would be fun |

There seems to be a general lack of interest in cichlids(especially the african varieties) on here.
Any reason for that ? I have a 120gallon cichlid tank and in my opinion they are generally the most colourful, best looking fresh water fish around. It kinda confuses my as to why they get very few mentions in this thread compared to say Guppies. I have a digi camera and can take pics/dodgy video of my fish if needed. |

It may be that the Cichlid have a way of making many aquarium owners shy of them, sort of the way Orchids seem to intimidate houseplant gardeners. Both look too good to be true and so they must be difficult to care for.
BTW, Gutty, your friends are pretty nice looking! Do you know what species these are? There's a nice site you can share your pics with other Cichlid hobbyist, if you’re interested: http://www.cybercichlids.com/ My first and most favorite Cichlid was a male Peacock, maybe because blue is my favorite color (?) |

Phauxxee: the first one is a Nimbochromis Venustus and the second one is a Tropheus Moorii - kasanga or Kachese.
Jim: i read every thread on this page today, i know there will be Cichlids and NO Guppies. Thats not what i asked about. Good job your doing though. Lots of Cichlid pics and info here http://www.cichlid-forum.com/photogallery/ |

I see no one has mentioned a superb but difficult fish, but one I loved: The black Sailfin Molly. A regal fish that should be there.

Still going strong.
