2.6, a $5.95 upgrade, adds 2 fish.

Garden Photos

Feldon, as I live nearby, your garden looks right at home. Have a couple beds just like that!

Angry

Afraid ours morphed into a couple of very nice flower beds over the years. Too much travel and too little time at home. They were built up exactly like yours and involved massive dirt transport!

I like 2.6 in widescreen, although I did turn the clock off. I've been following MA for years and have always thought of it as a constantly improving work of art, more like a living painting. Now using a Gateway dual core 2.8 and the movement is flawless and lifelike.

Jim's intense dedication to detail over such a long time is pretty amazing. This keeps us interested as other similiar efforts come and go. Like others, I keep looking forward to the background upgrade, along with Jim's infrequent tweaks. Played with Dream Aquarium and a couple others this weekend. Dream Aquarium is the next best thing, but just doesn't have the appeal and personality of MA. Afraid they will have to be removed next weekend. MA is like an old friend, with enough change to remain interesting.

Well, Nick - if you're into detail, then you should love MA3. I'm in the very slow process of building 3D objects, and all of them will be in much higher detail than the previous version. I finally got the gravel right, and the old floor is almost laughable by comparison, especially on higher-resolution systems. Working on barnacles today.

Glad to hear it, but it would sound a bit odd to a non forum member!

A piece of gravel here, a barnacle there. Sounds good to me!

Yeah there's a lot here that would sound strange to a non-forum member. Most people consider it rather odd when I tell them that my new house is being built by imaginary fish

Jim, I'm glad to hear things are going well. Having my own website, I think I understand (in a small way) how tedious this kind of project can be. Good luck with it. I hope it builds you a vacation home as well.

Also, can you say if the new bottom is going to be along the lines of the Goldfish bottom or like the original sand bottom? In other words, are you going with the tank look or the ocean look?

From what Jim has said in the past, everything is geared towards an aquarium. Although in this case it will be a larger representation than the old one. The new version is supposed to be about 1 1/2 screens wide with camera panning.

Actually, the new tank is a little over two widescreens wide. The bottom is the whitish gravel used in most marine aquariums.

Pretty close. The idea is to either have two widescreen monitors side-by-side, or set the camera to pan back and forth in a big tank.
