I still haven't heard back from Support. How long should it generally take for me to hear back? If I haven't heard anything in 2 days, should I try sending something via email?

Although I already purchased my keycode last week , I was having a poke about the prolific website ( to check on something posted in another thread ) , and when I clicked on the buy link for MA3 , my antivirus popped up a warning

Avast On-Access Scanner Message

Network Shield: Blocked access to mailicous site www.downloads-portal.com/awards/clean_33514.jpg .

Is this a false positive or an actual problem ? My Avast! is fully up to date .

What exact page were you looking at when that popped up?

It was this page .

http://www.serenescreen.com/product/...p?ref=prolific

This time it popped up as soon as I opened the page . Avast disables the buy now link as well . I've checked it several times incase it was a fluke but would appreciate if someone else with Avast , or any other AV could confirm .

I used to use Avast but changed over to AVG, so I'm sorry I can't help with the pop-up warning. - AVG has no effect on that page, but I can confirm that the Buy Now link is disabled. - It shows an, 'Error on page' in the Status bar, when 'Buy Now' is clicked.

It's not really disabled per se. For whatever reason, there are two links on that page to "Buy Now" which try to use an odd method of redirecting to:

http://www.serenescreen.com/product/...t.php?mode=add

Instead of a regular link, they are trying to use javascript to activate a form submission to do the redirection. Very odd indeed.

But does it work?

I was using the same word that Nicki used, ie: disabled. (Albeit in a different tense). - In my book that means it doesn't work. - The Buy Now! link on that particular page, does not work! (And states, 'Error on page' in the status bar). - Therefore, I consider it not unreasonable for us to say that the link is disabled! ... What's wrong with that?

I assumed it was because of Avast , my bad . They do say that you should never assume , and in this case maybe they were right .

They (Prolific) might want to fix the installation instructions as well.. They currently install version 1.1.2.. the screen shots and menu choices have changed a bit

I believe there are various places. One place is the FAQ:

http://www.serenescreen.com/support/...p?productid=64

...where part of it says:

"# Delete any old versions of Marine Aquarium on your system to avoid conflicts.

# Download the newest release of Marine Aquarium 3.0 from HERE"
================

Another place is http://www.serenescreen.com/product/...structions.php

There are a lot of other places where there are (insert PC term of the day), and "somebody" (not Jim) should probably take a look at the whole situation.

I still don't see it in that first link, but I do in the second. It's in a picture instead of text, so it will be harder to replace. Will forward.

There are several places in the FAQ that are incorrect, incomplete, or obsolete.

The one I had in mind was a long ways down in the FAQ I referenced - for instance, at:

http://www.serenescreen.com/support/...=64#faq10_1686

...where it says: "Delete any old versions of Marine Aquarium on your system to avoid conflicts."

...which we have been told is unnecessary (and perhaps counterproductive). And if it's really necessary, it should say "uninstall" rather than "delete".

Another example, as I recall, is the instructions for making MA3 the default screensaver in Vista.

Perhaps other folks have time to find and detail all of the problems in the FAQ and other places.

this has probably been hammered out by now.. but
http://www.serenescreen.com/product/...p?ref=prolific where the link to "Installation Instructions" http://www.serenescreen.com/product/...structions.php
give this screen capture... a bit of nostalgia here
This is also where the "buy now" link is dead
