Marine Aquarium .99D was in development from January 2000 - August 2000.

Jim, take your time on the project, I think we all would rather see a perfectly well done screensaver than one that was quickly made. Plus, everyone here on this forum knows of the troubles you've had to go through the past few months with your computer, and the fires in California. By the way, I checked out "The Living Pond" and I have to say your relatives can also make some wonderful realistic screensavers. I guess the talent runs in the family.

They're not my relatives, just friends.

Well my only point is that it's been around for years now and basically completely unchanged, except for a few new fish. I'd love to see a 3D aquarium taking advantage of DX9 features (pixel shaders etc.). Now that would look amazing!
I think we're all waiting to see something new, especially those of us with recent hardware. It's a long wait right now. |

I think that geliosoft fish screensaver is kind of nice. Not as fine as Jim's but just for something different...who says you can't have more than one fishsaver!

Well, untill Jim's FWA arrives, this one seems certainly worth taking a look at!
Please Jim! ..... Please ...... (I'm just longing for that Red Tailed Black Shark! ) Edit, Yes I know this is the SereneScreen Marine Aquarium forum, - but this screensaver that starfish has mentioned has both! Last edited by cjmaddy; 01-11-2004 at 06:26 PM. |

Yes, - It's the one in starfish's post ......
3D Fish School ver 2.22, www.geliosoft.com - The backgrounds are very basic, - to put it mildly! (ie, virtually non-existent!), the fish movement is a little unnatural, and the marine fish are not up to Jim's standard, - but it's worth taking a look at! - IMHO! - if only for the freshwater fish. - Also there are a lot of settings! These are the settings I used ....... |

Do the fish still swim through each other?

Originally posted by cjmaddy I just downloaded it, it's pretty neat. Of course, not as great as Jim's work, but it'll hold until the arrival of Jim's FWA.

The Rock Beauty no longer has that flat face, the Blue Ring is brown instead of yellow, and the Redfin no longer looks shiny.

Jim, whatever you spend your time on is up to you and I'm not one to usually make a fuss, but I think I missed something. Could you tell us again why you are redoing these 5 fish? I must be mistaken, but they were fine when released. Did something change since then?

They were not done by me, it was a mistake to release them, and I've regretted it ever since. Prolific is about to send Encore a new master copy with some minor updates, so I thought now would be the time to fix those fish.
