3D coral
I hope I'm not repeating anything, since i dont know the name of the coral im talking about.
Will the 3D background have that those sorta fat and squishy looking coral that the clown fish swim in? I think i saw it in the clown fish avatar, tho im not to sure. Anyway, it's that coral that everytime on TV (i cant SCUBA much where I live) they show a bunch of clown fish they are having the time of their life poking their heads out of, or forraging in it. It would also be good if they had a greater inclination than other fish to swim around that type of coral. |

Ok, forgive me- ive done my research now and the stuff i was talking is "long tentacled anemones".
I found some very interesting pictures at this site, but you can tell what im talking by having a little peak, and i also recommend reading the caption- i had no idea marine life had this much personality! http://www.tomkoinc.com/reef/images....in-anemone.jpg Thats the stuff i was talking about, but i was thinking a different color- maybe orange. After the 3D background is done, one of the creature packs will include a anemone with a (two?) clownfish that will never venture far from it.
Thanks to Morgan, Tiny Snapshots is up and running again with "Tiny Järvafält" as the latest addition – Go have a look and tell me what you think.

Specialty Creature Request
Jim,
I'm not sure what type of crab you have planned for the aquarium beyond the hermit crabs on the wish list. But for the larger non-shelled variety, I would like to request the Porcelain Crab. Morgan, please add this guy to the wish list when you have a chance, thanks! - DL

For some reason it seems to me that porcelain crabs are small- like really, really small, too small to see much if they were life sized in the Aquarium. I could be mistaken though.

Unfortunetly I wasn't able to assertain the real life size of these crabs. However, if what you say is correct, then I would simply ask that this crab not be included on the wish list. So if anyone steps forward to verify this, then I'll go from there.
Thanks for pointing that out though. Usually I'm very thorough, but I was in a rush when I posted that image and the request, so I didn't have the time to look too much further beyond the name of the crab. Silly me. - DL

Porcelain Crabs are less than an inch wide. They can be different colors, and that one looks like it is taking refuge in an anemone for protection, which they will do.

Jim,
Here's a new fish I'd like to submit to the Wish List, it's a very interesting looking fish with a color pattern that should fit in nicely with the other fish currently available. It's common name is "Spotted Drum", weird name I know. It's scientific name is Equetus punctatus. Anyway, here's a picture. Let me know what you think.

Well, I certainly have to admit, that is one that I have never seen before. Where do those come from, do you have any information about them?

Info from Caribbean Drums Identification Article
Spotted Drum, Equetus punctatus. This is the only fish of the group that prefers clear tropical waters and are thus the most frequently sighted Caribbean Drum. This adult Drum is a little larger than the others, topping out at a whopping nine inches. Although it has a mid-body stripe similar to the Jackknife Fish, it is easy to ID this guy due to the fact that the second dorsal and the caudal fin are black with white spots¡Xhence it¡¦s common name. Additional black and white bands may be present on the head but these should not make your identification more difficult. The juvenile¡¦s body shape is almost identical to the juvenile Jackknife, except for three easy to spot differences. First, the Spotted Drum has no yellow markings. Second, the dorsal fin is usually much longer; the longest of the four. And finally, a black spot is present on the nose. The neat thing about these fish is that they are pretty much unafraid of divers and fishwatchers can get right next to them and instead of retreating, they would come closer. The other Drums in this family are almost as brave, but none have the curiosity of the Spotted Drum. Also, they tend to establish a swimming circuit over an area and slowly swim this pattern constantly, stopping only to grab a snack or investigate a funny looking diver. The above says a lot on how to identify the drum fishes I also like the Juvenile Drum here's its pic

Nice post James, although I tend to prefer the adult Drum myself, it offers more visually as eye candy than does the juvenile. Not only that, but for Jim to create the juvi would require that he make that rather long whip like dorsal fin animated and that (like the Wimplefish) could be a head ache. So the adult (or possibly a teenage version) is likely to be the best candidate for Jim's aquarium "if" he decides to include it. Here's keeping my fingers crossed either way.

Variant size of the fish
Pseudanthias - Gooddddd......for schooling.
Is it possible to make different size of the fish when they are chosen from the duplicated slot. A tiny REGAL TANG will be so lovey !!!!!!!! I think this NEW additional optinal will consume less time than others while we are in boring time (waiting.... .........3D background.......3D background....) . |
