I'm just going to reiterate my suggestion from 20 years ago. Hire a programmer with an ironclad contract verified by a lawyer that says nothing goes forward until you give complete approval that what he or she has produced does exactly what you want. I know how much pain you've experienced from verbal contracts. Written contracts just keep people honest and aren't that expensive to draft.

I'm hoping to break new ground by re-programming the Aquarium in Unity. If others could have done it, there should be some evidence by now. The fish-related objects and programming in the Unity Asset Store are pitiful. My plans are for a fully 3D environment, in which you can walk all the way around the tank (in VR, if you have the goggles). A fully-articulated octopus would be featured, as well as bulletproof collision-avoidance, refracting water in the tank, and sea anemones which can house clownfish.

Nope. While I'm optimistic, there's no guarantee I'll be around to finish it. I'm already older than any male in my family has ever lived to be.

"Live long and prosper."
I'm sure you'll both. That said, as the CEO of a couple companies, I know how important a succession plan is. I hope you have some thoughts along that line, vFishtanks around the globe would be a wonderful legacy (among your other incredible accomplishments). And thank you for your service, BTW. Best wishes for a great holiday season man. |

Perkiset - Yeah, my successor is my daughter Jill.
She's newly-graduated from AFI as a film director (which is what I still want to do when I grow up). Here's a link to a commercial she just finished for TouchNote (I did the music for her): https://www.facebook.com/TouchNote/v...4298323321366/

Confirmed Working!
I saw the previous post and immediately installed the update to 10.14.2 and YES, it now works. Apple must have patched it.
I'm very happy to have my fish back!

The black screen on initializing an OpenGL screen saver did seem to be a bug on Apple's part. Glad they fixed it.

One thing I have found though is it drives up the GPU temperature and the fan runs continuously. This never occurred before when the screensaver kicked in, and I have a high spec machine.

Thanks where thanks is due
Thanks everyone, but I feel it's only right to send the thank you's to the proper people: I was just following up on Fester1952's report that the aquarium started working again after the update.
Thanks Fester1952!

Marine Aquarium as Executible File
Yes, it works, but only for a short time. After about 15 minutes or so, the program crashes.
This is definitely not a solution. Sure hope you guys figure out a work around. I miss my fish... Sam |
