There are some screensavers/simulations that adjust their lighting according to the computers clock. Digifish Dolphin is one (I think).

I never could get into this day/night timezone tracking stuff. Do you turn the lights on when it's day or night? With a real saltwater aquarium, the lights have to be on a certain (large) amount of time every day, or the corals don't feel like they're in the Tropics.

So far as I know it just reads the time on your computers own clock and then makes some arbitrary decision as to when to switch. For example 7pm would be dusk, 9pm night. I don't think it's smoothly transitional but I've only had the briefest experience with it. I own Digifish Seahorse but none of their other works. Well there's VR Aquarium but that's not really the same as Marine Aquarium.

Background colors (day/night) is what I'm talking about it. In ver 2.6, the fish & background would change to a dark silhouette for a short time. I thought you reintroduced that feature in 3.1. I tried to download the v3.1 .scr file but my antivirus program keeps identifying it as a virus and deletes it. I'm just waiting for a 64-bit friendly installer to become available at the SereneScreens website. I love your screen saver, Jim. -Teddy |

Hmmm, yeah. That's been popping up lately with MA and Dream Aquarium - AV programs reporting false positives.
Changing the background lighting as you describe is definitely available in MA 3.1. You have to set it up yourself, but Jim's interface is super intuitive so it's no problem. Foreground lighting is not adjustable.

Yeah, what she said. There's no foreground lighting, so no silhouette effect.

Henemly, that page doesn't mention a day/night feature. Are you just referring to the official installer?

When people say day/night, they mean the automatic lighting controls, a prominent feature of 3.1.
I think very few people are actually asking for the ability to have the Aquarium screen saver light for 12 hours and dark for 12 hours. It wouldn't be a very useful screen saver if it operated on that schedule.

I'm not sure whether JimR or Edgar will be doing the work at Prolific. Haven't been in contact with anyone there lately.
