Thanks, Endie and Derwinator for the reports.

Endie, next build will probably just lack German altogether since it won't be properly localized anyway. Different distributors handle the localization, and they won't touch it until I'm done putzing around.

Thatīs ok for me. I'm glad to see that it's gonna be localized at all.
For now the most important thing is watching the fish (and the new eel of course), not talking to them
Thus, happy further putzing...

Andreas (Endie).

Hey Jim - I'm not sure if this means anything or not, or if you're already aware of it, but just in case.........

I've noticed that every time MA ScreenSaver activates, it leaves the following error message in the Console log:

"2/17/12 9:04:49.637 AM [0x0-0x40040].com.apple.ScreenSaver.Engine: ScreenSaverEngine(1215,0x10d209000) malloc: *** auto malloc[1215]: error: GC operation on unregistered thread. Thread registered implicitly. Break on auto_zone_thread_registration_error() to debug."

OS 10.7.3

I've fixed the Tiger issue, and I've figured out why the conflict between MA3.2 and MA3. Don't have a fix for that, yet. For the moment we'll just need to remove MA3 to install MA3.2, though maybe keeping the MA 3 name would be a workaround.

Hi Jim,

Noting that the current beta will expire later today can we expect an updated beta soon?

Thanks,
Darren

http://www.orderndev.com/downloads/M...quarium3_2.dmg

Drop dead date: 3/14
New: Daylight and moon lighting modes assignable per background
Fixed: Tiger, a couple of drawing issues, a problem of overlapping with MA 3 pieces (MA 3.0 may crash in the System Prefs panel if you're switching between MA 3.2 and MA 3.0). Removed non-English localizations since they aren't really localized for the new functionality. Keyboard controls inside the screen saver now work.
Remaining: hook threading back up, better icons for the lighting modes

Comments and criticisms welcome. If the problem has to do with the UI in some way, please include your OS. If it is performance, please include OS and hardware.

This is the last feature I anticipate in the product for this release, and I should finalize the bits for a real product shortly. Please don't hold back on anything you see which is problematic. There shouldn't be anything which is a downgrade from 3.0. Everything should be as good or better.

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for the update, Jim. Will give it a try on Mac OS X 10.7.3 and let you know how it goes.

So far, everything looks good. Two minor issues I've noted:

- Press "W" in the screen saver produces a black bar across the bottom 1/4 of screen that didn't appear previously
- Switching from MA 3.2 back to MA 3 in the Screen Saver control panel produced a crash in the System Preferences app. I have the dump I can send you if you're interested. Relaunching the System Preferences fixes the problem temporarily.

Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b)

Thanks,
Darren

The black bar is necessary for the night mode lighting to look good -- it prevents light from shining through a few spots in the geometry when the lighting is turned down.
MA 3.0 crashes with MA 3.2 installed, sometimes. It depends on which one you use first. I haven't decided if this is fixable/should be fixed. MA 3.0 should be replaced by MA 3.2 anyway.

Thanks for the feedback. Keep 'em coming!

3.2 Beta Feedback

The fish sometimes disappear briefly and then re-appear. Find this happens most often when beginning to travel behind a fixed object. I'm running OS 10.7.3 on a MacBook pro with 16GB RAM.

Feashman,

Yes, that is still an issue. It shouldn't be worse than MA 3.0. I hope to get something done on that before ship.

Thanks for the feedback, please keep them coming!

I'll post a build today which will prevent the light ripple from playing on the lower jaw of the eel.

small UI bug in Tiger

Hi Jim,

thanks for fixing the preferences bug in Tiger. But there is still a minor UI bug with the new 'sun' and 'moonlight' icons in the backgrounds tab (only Tiger, Leopard is all fine). It's just an optical glitch and doesn't seem to affect functionality. See the screenshot...

...and just in case you're running out of spots for polishing: I would prefer the solid white seconds hand of the analog clock i saw on the PC version...

Endie.

Thanks, Endie, Jim Sachs got me some icons which are properly sized so Tiger will behave nicely. That and the improved eel mouth will be in a build I expect to put out tonight or tomorrow.

Anyone have any feedback for me on this most recent build?

If you're running it, please post OS/Hardware so I have an idea what our coverage is.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,

I've not noticed any issues so far apart from the occasional fish swimming through the coral here and there.

Mac Mini 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM and OSX 10.7.3

Thanks for all your hard work on this

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Jim,

just to mention that german localization is back in, but still unpolished. I don't know if it should be corrected now.
Fast scrolling with the cursor keys is fast enough but not really smooth. (because of not being VSYNCed? - MA3.2 runs at avg. 55 fps with fish set to "one of each")

PowerMAC G4 MDD Dual 1,25 - 2 GB RAM - 10.4.11/10.5.8
