Regal Tang
Hey Jim,
I was wondering when you planned on fixing the mouth on the Regal Tang? For as long as I can remember it's mouth has been locked in the open position and for some strange reason the inside of the mouth and the lips are colored yellow. From what I've seen, Regal Tangs do not have yellow mouths. Anyway, I was just wondering since it happens to be one of my favorite fish. Thanks,
Steve

If that's "yellow", there are color calibration issues at work here. It is, at best, pale flesh color.

I just posted that image as an example of what the inside of a Tang's mouth really looks like, that's all.
By the way Jim, thanks for replying. So, will you eventually fix that in a future version? I know it's not on the top of your list of "things to do" obviously , but I'd still like to find out.

I think Steve missed the sarcasm in Jim's post.

No, I got the sarcasm. I guess I'm just not used to Jim using it in his comments, so it didn't phase me.

Hi Jim,
some time ago I saw a "real" Regal Tang in an aquarium. Since your version of that fish was the first one I ever looked at, I was wondering that the "real" Tang's fin-movement is different. Actually it reminded me on a bird's movement in flight. A kind of up and down... Are there special strong reasons you created it like this? In my opinion it would bring very much "life" in the Aquarium SSA. Don't get me wrong - It's already full of life and I love it. But Would it be far to much work faced with the effect it could have?? - just askin'

Yes, I've always planned for each species to have its own type of movement.

Hi Jim,
Nice to read that - I can't wait to see it. By the way, what are you working on at the moment? Will there be a beta version of the Freshwater Aquarium we are allowed to test?

Improvements
I don't know how feasible this would be, but it would be interesting to extend the sense of a mini ecosystem by allowing reproduction (Just think - SereneScreen Tomagotchis! =), as well as fish with behaviors.
A fully 3d immersive environment would be good too, such as moving hydras, corals and gravel that fish can nibble at. This would up the poly rate though, and the realism would be harder to capture with 3d environments instead of a photo-realistic background. As for the reproduction and behaviors, I don't know how difficult that would be - so far I've only seen that stuff properly used in a little game called Black and White. Then again, fish behavior will be much simpler... |

Draklyne,
I doubt that we will ever see reproduction in the tank. But some of the things you are talking about are planned for the future of the aquarium. Check out our photo and info wishlist page located here https://www.feldoncentral.com/Sachs/wishlist.html Under the features section you will find some of the things you are talking about. Oh, and by the way, Welcome to the forum.

Jim,
I do believe I have an idea that's practical, simple, and has yet to be suggested for the SSA. It's nothing big, but I was wondering how much trouble it would be for you to make it so when the SSA is in windowed mode that it can snap to the corners of the screen or other windows like Winamp does? Here's another one. When the SSA is in windowed mode, you have to manually size the window to fit your monitor if you want to run it that way. Why not enable the Restore Down/Maximize button at the top right side of the window so that you don't have to manually grab and drag the screen to fit the entire monitor? That way you can just blow it up to fit the entire screen like any other window with the click of a button. Your thoughts?

You can already force the Aquarium to fit the screen with one button - the F key.

That switches between full screen and windowed modes, but doesn't maximize the windowed screen unless you've already stretched it to that first. I guess I'm suggesting that it would be ideal if the windowed mode supported the same functions as normal windows - Minimize, Restore Down/Maximize, and Close. Just a thought.

What's the difference between Maximised and Full Screen? Inside the program, Full Screen has many advantages, but I mean visually.
