I've been through many moves and hated every one of them, so I sincerely wish you an uneventful and quicker-than-expected experience!
Just please drive safely and don't overdo it! (Oh and thanks for a gorgeous screensaver, I bought it last month, we've had saltwater tanks in the past and this is MUCH better!) Rebecca |

My dad moved a large apartment from Houston to Michigan for around $2,000. They did all the padding and packing of furniture. Nothing was broken.

In a funny way - it's another example of how Jim wants to do everything himself. Sure, you will save money - but at the expense of your back.

Amen. I've learned that one the hard way myself, unfortunately too late to change anything, but oh well.

Yes, Rebecca, indeed welcome. And visit often.
I have only moved three times in my married life, the last being 23 years ago. I would hate to have to do it now the way we did then. I rather stay right where I am.

You gotta get out from behind the computer and make some friends, Jim... Friends who will come over and help you move. Or have your daughter and all her potential boyfriends come over and help haul some things to impress her how strong they are. Just how long a trip is it one way from California to Oregon?

All this talk about moves makes me feel like a stick-in-the-mud, - 49 years next Feb! (In the same house!)
..... but at least we're still doing this..... So we do get out occasionally! (It was taken this morning, with the Casio, just as we dismounted). |

Don't feel bad Cliff, I'm right there with you. My parents built a house in the 60's on a dead end street where I live when I was 3. I grew up in that one. Eventually they bought a larger house and an empty lot between the two, and we moved there when I was younger. Years back I got the house I grew up in back and now reside there. So I'm within 350' of each one for the last 41 years on the same street.
My stick must be muddy as well.

There's something to be said about staying put and putting down roots.

Oh, like little portable windshield wipers, okay, I get it.
I've rented my same little aptmt for 25+ years. Yeah, yeah, yeah, if I'd bought a house, I'd own it by now... Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes. Last edited by Surferminn; 09-07-2007 at 02:21 AM. |

Yes. Ed's right, ... To help keep off flies.
..... I'll bet Jim is loving this! - Lots of distractions as to Marine Aquarium 3.0 progress. But don't be deceived! - We will be back on course shortly! ... Normal service will be resumed! |

They used to put blinders on mules, they were little cups on each side of the eye to keep the mule focus ahead without distractions from the side. You know how mules are.

I've seen those on horses before but I would think they would be more distracting than anything the horse might see without them.
