Thanks for your reply Pushwall,

guess it could be a problem with ATI cards ( I have an ATI all-in-one-wonder rage 128 pro myself ) Any other ATI users with this problem ?

Thanks for the update info.....I just got 5590 (which you had mentioned on another thread) and am testing it on a Windows ME machine right now.

Well, the Plant Picker was a modest start with that. But I am going to wait out the initial beta stage until things settle down. Otherwise I will be implementing features that are changed again the next day. And besides, a picker makes little sense when there is not much to pick from yet.

Well. I think I'm going to buy. My initial reaction aside, this is really a great piece of work. It does still hold second place to MA, but it really is growing on me.

I ended up purchasing this. Although the fish in MA2 have more beauty to them (partly cause they are saltwater fish), these goldfish are so cool cause they show so much depth to them. It actually looks like a plump goldfish swimming there in the tank.

The plant picker has no effect on the number of plants when I run GA.

Actually, I was hoping Prolific would allow a wider choice of plants, with different colouring (I like the reddish/purple tones) and foliage, and also allow you to choose different combinations, say just background and a couple at the front, instead having to do a preset combination working from back to front.

For example, if we number the plants in order of appearance from 1 to 7, have plants 1, 5 and 6 on, but plants 2, 3, 4 and 7 off.

UPDATE!! - you should read this thread - https://www.feldoncentral.com/forums...&threadid=1551 - (thanks again Socrates).

Anyone who has made comments regarding the realism of the background/plants - try turning on 'Texture Sharpening' in your display properties (if available). It made a HUGE difference in the plants/rock. Remember those bad 'movement lines' and how blurry the plants looked - NO MORE! ...those were a couple of my biggest complaints - and they went away with the click of a button.

I may be going out on a limb here but can anyone from Prolific tell us what they are working on to fix in this beta and what may we expect to see in the next build? Also can you give us an idea on what goldfish you are working on for future builds?

We SHOULD see (no promises) quite a few changes before 1.0.

I spoke briefly to the creator of Goldfish and he also sees quite a bit of room for improvement. Any criticism we might have, he is even more critical. He is a huge fan of Jim's work (and became a stronger fan the more time he spent on the Goldfish!).

Still, he agrees about the plants, the lighting on the fish, etc. and is working on improving these things.

Remember, this is version 0.9!

Got a picture you can post in the Wishlist or "Goldfish Photos" topic?

I remember and realize this is beta, and as all I'm truly impressed. My wife absolutly loves it. Just curious about what the developers think needs improvement and what new goldfish are to follow. Thats all. No bit of complaints from me. :P

No, it doesn't if you run GA at the same time. The plants must be set before starting GA.

And I have to mention that I am still running the pre-beta, so maybe some values have changed... or maybe you are experiencing the bug discussed here: https://www.feldoncentral.com/forums...&threadid=1545
Guess I will have to install the latest beta after all. I have delayed that for several reasons. For one, it seems to be buggier than the pre-beta. And secondly, being a control freak I absolutely hate installers! Does anyone know how to extract the actual saver from the installation program?

Thanks for the suggestion, Reichart. Should have thought of that! I actually have a second puter without 3D capabilities. So it never really occurred to me to install a 3D screensaver on it.

And reading the GA bug forum again I added a reference to a post there, while you were just answering my post. About the issue beta versus pre-beta where the latter seemed more stable, at least to some. Any idea how that could happen?

Sorry, I was in a hurry and rather chaotic I'm afraid. If you want to know what I was going on about take a look at these threads in the GA Bug Reports forum: " I have given up on N442.0.9.510 !" and " Plant settings not retained". These reports led me to suspect that the pre-beta N419.0.9.156 was more stable than the beta N442.0.9.510.
I did not get around to installing N442.0.9.510 yet due to a small nVidia driver upgrade ordeal, but I will do that tomorrow after I got some Then I am going to try replicating these issues.

Okay, I know I am a bit late, but here goes:

Although I didn't like the GA in the beginning, it is really growing on me. It seems to have a bit more personality than the fish in the MA. The detail is amazing.

The plants' movement is very jerky, but I have not tried the smoothing and AA suggestions yet.

My only real complaint is that the fish in the MA seem really small if I switch immediately between the two screensavers.
