All I can say is Colorful Aquarium is, to be kind, not so good. If a higher price makes MA 2.6 more popular there's nothing wrong with giving the people what they want. Geeze, Aquazone VE is better than most of those apps. To quote my younger friends, it is MA 2.6 ftw.
Run you clever boy. And remember...

If I didn't know anything about the Aquarium, a price of 99 cents on the iPad would tell me not to take it seriously.

The catch is it's a dual app - so .99 cents on ipad may make it seem cheap, but $1.99 on iphone could make alot of people think twice. I'm just guessing here based on personal exp.

Have sales (or profit) changed one way or the other since the price increase?

I have no idea how that particular market works. Does this mean that profit was up substantially, or just a bit, or not at all?

Half the sales at double the price - it's a wash.

Disable Auto-Lock in App's Settings?

Don't forget, though, that this setting affects all of the Apps and you'll be going through battery power a lot faster.

It would be great if the iPod Touch had separate settings for when on battery or plugged in. Maybe that will be on a future update to the OS?
What are the chances of having an updated version that provides an option in the app's settings to disable Auto-Lock while running the Aquarium App? I know other apps have this option in their settings (example iRedTouch). I typically run Aquarium when my iPhone is docked and I don't want to turn off the entire phone's auto sleep / Auto-Lock , but would like the option to disable it in the app itself.

I also wonder how the app will look on the iPhone 4's better res screen.

First, welcome to the forums!

It looks like this is a feature that could be added. There are other apps that will disable the Auto-lock. Here's example code:

Pretty good, I'd say.

Latest version

Just got the latest version on the Touch. Thumbs up for having the screen flip over when positioned vertically with USB at the top and also for the sleep option.

Marine Aquarium 2.6/2.6.1 is build at 1024 x 768 resolution, the exact resolution of the iPad.

So for now on iPhone 4 you get 320x480 scaled up to 960x640 I guess? (I decided to keep the 3GS for now, so can't experiment.)

I will qualify this by saying that I have not actually seen MA running on an iPhone 4 yet.

MA on the Mac (and iPhone) is implemented using OpenGL, with a coordinate system that does not map directly to pixels on the screen. The textures used in MA for the iPhone/iPad are not specifically scaled down for use on a smaller screen (they are the same ones used in the Mac version of the product), so there should be enough detail for a 960 x 640 pixel resolution display.

Japan really seems to appreciate our Japanese localization of the latest version. Yesterday we became the #1 Entertainment iPad app in that country.

The i-Version profits are split so many ways that no one is going to make a large amount. But if it continues like this for a few more weeks, it could allow me to buy a new computer.

So the burning question then would be: PC or Mac? :-)
