There are so many kinds of discus. I think IXNAY might be pointing out that once you do one, you might have less work to create more since there are some with real similar profiles, but different colors.

I assume the discus will be juvenille? BTW, what variety is it going to be?

Jim, is the Discus you are doing based on the Discus Poll we had? Which number will it most resemble?

I'm betting it was based on which store had the most photogenic specimen handy LOL

I don't know about Jim's stores, but near me there are a LOT of fish stores, and I've been in them a lot lately. Most of them have MAYBE one vriety of Discus in stock each and often it's a cheaper less flashy variety.

The one I'm currently working on is about halfway between #2 and #16.

Yes, it's very hard to find colorful ones in aquarium stores. If anyone knows of any in Southern California, let me know.

Skins - Ah, for the Discus, I see. I didn't know whether you were talking about the background, Ed Shirey, or what. Yes, I'm strongly considering it.

I have to admit, it was fairly obvious. Even I got that one without any trouble.

It would be very cool to have a choice of, say, 5 different kinds of Discus. I can't imagine the body shape changes much if at all.

You're right, all the Discus I've seen have a virtually identical shape.

Still looking for some good-looking ones to photograph...

There are a handful of really great looking Discus at Aquarium City on Sherman Way just East of Topanga. http://www.theaquariumcity.com

Jim may be familiar wtih that place.

They have some nice variety considering they really only have 5 to 6 of them all tgether. They also have pretty clean glass.
