Looking at the 25-gallon aquarium next to my computer, I can tell you that the plants definitely sway in the current without any fish in the tank. Undergravel filters are on their way out -- power heads or canister filters are always recommended now. They provide positive filtration, and a strong flow of water.

To all those who are concerned that the swaying plants will be eerie, monotonous, or unnatural, all I can say is: Don't worry!

You know so would I. Take a poll somebody and find out how many would be willing to do this.

Jim, could you post a photo from your tank with freshwater fishes that you used to observe it?

I already have. There are no fish in it yet, just rocks and plants.

Here it is again:

It will still be some time before a Beta of a Beta (also known as an Alpha build in the software business) will be ready for posting.

I'd pay just to see screen shots of unfinished work and read notes about what the problems have been.

But hasn't Jim said that releasing the unfinished work will either spoil it or create an unreasonable expectation if something has to be redone for some reason?

A snapshot of the Freshwater, especially the treasure chest and bubbles (The best part of the tank), would not give an impression of how it looks in motion.

Jim videotaped a single large bubble (probably about 1,000 times) in front of a blue screen, cleaned the frames up, and uses this as an animated texture. The bubbles are random sizes playing this animated texture at random speeds. It looks like rolling mercury.

The treasure chest opening and closing (especially the shadows and the 3D realism of the pearl necklace) and the bubbles coming out of the lip of the chest are all perfectly realistic.

It is REALLY convincing.

Ok, then let me revise. I'd pay for a little animated mpeg or avi file
