Welcome to the forum Jot.

I assume you are speaking of the Marine Aquarium that came with XP Plus, I also have this version on my computer, BUT it is not the version I run. As to your problem, I am almost certain that there is no support offered for it by Jim Sachs or Prolific. Sorry, it is just freeware, and for real support and a exceptional version you will need to purchase the full version 2.0 You will not regret doing so, there are links on this site to the proper web site, good luck and again welcome.

I don't recall ever hearing about this problem before. In fact I can't see any connection between the sound and the graphics card, which is not re-displaying the background.

Marian is right - technically there's no support for the version I gave Micro!@#$%, but I'll be on the lookout for anything which seems related.

I have no idea what would cause this. Some kind of Windows/DX9 weirdness.

Like nearly all programs, the Aquarium contains no code to remember or restore the state of the machine. When it is shut down, it just terminates its own thread. It's up to Windows to put the screen back the way it was before running the program.

The major difference in the MSPlus version and the real version is that the demo version I gave Microsoft was written in DX8 (they insisted), while the real versions have all been written in DX6.

As far as my having any inside info from MS on the workings of Windows, forget it. After this experience with the PlusPack, I'm not really on speaking terms with them. They were supposed to do a complete code review of the program. Never happened. They were supposed to test it on every possible configuration of machines at their disposal. Nothing. They were supposed to sell the PlusPack for $19.95. They doubled the price. They were supposed to provide an ad and button on their website leading to ours. Nope. In fact they did not honor a single item that we had thought we were getting, and I can't really picture a scenario where I would deal with them again.

Oh how to answer this, thank you but that is a very old photograph, we sometimes here on the forum will change our avatars to younger versions of ourselves. I just recently posted this one after having some fun on ‘pictures from the past thread’, check it out you see some very interesting picture of most of us from our past. I was about 30 in that picture and I am now 57, so ...

But I still love a complement.

Thank you, I am lost for words and you know how unusual that is for me.

No, Jot I have never been to your wonderful part of the world but of have seen photos and film of it, there’s a lot of history in Portugal and here in the US it is in our early history lessons.

I wish your home team the best of luck in the competition going on now.

Jot, you are new so I will explain a few things.

We steer away from political discussions here on the forum, there are peoples from all over the world joining us for some light hearted talk on anything in the world EXCEPT
Politics and Religion.

We are individuals here with many different points of view but we stay friends because of what I just told you.

There are others places on the web where lively discussions go on all the time on these very subjects but not here, are you okay with that?

Yes, we are aware of the sporting event going on in Europe just now and we have several forum members keeping us here in the United States inform of what is happing. Being female I personally do not get caught up in too many sporting events except ‘football’ and ‘NASCAR’.

I do agree that sports here ARE too self centered, some athletes making million a year while poverty is just down the road. And that is all I will on that and lets get back to more rounded talk that everyone will be comfortable discussing, agreed?

Jotenko,

You were on a winning streak untill that last post, - now you could have gone and spoiled it all!

Stick to Marian's gorgeous pic, - and remember the immortal words of Basil Fawlty, "Don't mention the war!" -

A little tact can work wonders. - Oh, and check out this thread:-

Of course Portugal rocks, is it not part of the Earth? Third rock from the sun? The whole planet 'rocks' turns, spins and the one sun and moon shines on us all.

Well you should come to the forum everyday, being on different sides of the world we won't always connect, and please Jot, leave out the f....ing word, although you are not saying it we, I still read it in my mind. I don’t mind so much other slang but that one does bother me, thanks for not using it. As an intelligent person I am sure, you can express yourself without profanity after all you already converse in two languages, which only a few of us on the forum can do and I am not one of them.
