Marine Aquarium 2.0

I was so lucky to get a preview of both Marine Aquarium Time and Marine Aquarium 2.0.

I was very happy to see that MAT worked perfectly on my system, I never was able to run the Marine Aquarium without hanging or crashing my system. I used to have a NVidia GeForce3 card, which together with XP was known to be a difficult combination.

I threw out the NVidia and installed a Matrox Parhelia, and never had a more stable system! (It wasn't just the screensaver that caused my system to crash..) I have had the pleasure of enjoying MAT for over a month now, which I'm very happy for!

However, the Marine Aquarium is still causing problems on my system. It doesn't hang, but when logging on I have no wallpaper. I go to properties for the screen and seethat the wallpaper is indeed selected, so all I have to do is make a change, change it back and click apply - the wallpaper is then back again.

My MB is a VIA VP6
Dual PIII 850 MHZ
RAM 1024
Matrox Parhelia 128MB
And Win XP servicepack1

It's no big deal really, I enjoy the MAT immensly, and that's good enough for me

I have the same problem but the Marine Aquarium 2.0 will not do anything but sit minimized in my tray. I upgraded to the newest version of Direct X as tech support told me but no change at all. I had to uninstall it and reinstall 1.1.

I have a Gateway Pentium 4 with a ATI_Radeon 128 Video Card and 1024 of RAM.

It's not known to be a difficult combination on this forum.

I'd be curious to know what drivers you were running. The ones that come with Windows XP are atrocious.

XP seems shockingly vulnerable to its settings being changed by DirectX applications. We've seen all kinds of wierdness here with no logical explanation. But this is not an "out". If the bug can be fixed, it will be!

My MB is a VIA VP6
Have you downloaded the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers from:

I was under the impression I wasn't the only one having trouble with the GeForce and XP...

If MAT is running, then make sure you have the most recent MA2. They are the same engine.

I a not sure if this is a bug, but it is strange. I installed the latest version of MA2 (N321.2.0.5154) and the fps seems to be locked at 142. I usally get 270 - 280 at 1280 x 1024.

Considering your monitor is probably only displaying 60 of those unless you have upped the DirectX refresh rate, I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm not worried about it, just thought it might be bug in the new version.

Huh? They put up version N321.2.0.5154? Why not the N414.2.0.5590 version we have been beta-testing lately, wasn't that supposed to be the release candidate?

I just checked it myself (by downloading and installing) and the version of MA2 at SereneScreen.com for the last 2 days has been 5590, which is, in my opinion, an awesome stable build.

skypx,
If you find an out-of-date link somewhere, please let us know.

On Stats, it shows VSyncCLAMPED.If you hit CTRL-V, it will switch to VSyncOFF. This will increased the framerate. As long as you know the consequence that you may see tearing on update. To save this new settings, hit the SPACEBAR and click on OK.

And for anyone wondering, turning off VSync might improve animation on some systems running MAT and MA2. Even with it on (as it is by default on 95% of computers), you can get excellent framerates and there is no risk of "tearing" or the monitor displaying ripped/half-frames. It's hard to explain but think of when you are watching a computer monitor in the background on a TV show, how you see a "rip" in the animation there.

I still get the same fps.

SereneScrene Problems

First off, I love this program

This is the problem I am having.

I uninstalled V1.1 and Installed V2.0 after I was sent my keycode.

Problems

1) On WinXP Pro the background goes away whenever I log back onto my system.

2) On winXp Pro I am unable to select SereneScreen 2 as my default screne saver.

WinXP Pro has been updated with all the current updates.

The funny thing about this is that I have a laptop with WinXP at home and neither of these problems occure.

Any ideas anyone?

This is being widely reported. Looking into it.

2) On winXp Pro I am unable to select SereneScreen 2 as my default screne saver.
Please go into C:\Windows\System32\ and rename
Marine Aquarium 2.scr
to
MarineAquarium2.scr (no spaces)
