Hey Jim,
Any chance that for the next beta that you could add the music playlist into the registry to save the aquarium from hvaing to use an external file. It would amke the app much neater.

Thanks

It will probably be in the next beta. That's what I'm working on right now.

Yes, you can turn it on and off.

I tried to get my brother's company interested in using MA on their computers with the corporate logo on the crystal . Turns out they have a policy against screensavers . How crazy is that ? Sorry Jim , but hey it was worth a try .

A lot of companies use the Aquarium as their official corporate screensaver.

There's an unofficial list of companies that run the Aquarium as a screen saver. It's not small companies. Anywho...

Your efforts to get the Aquarium as a screen saver at your company are much appreciated. I apologize if I was being a pest.

I would prefer it use some kind of standard playlist file. Especially the kind in WMP. I'd love to be able to have it browse for a playlist file rather than add all the songs one at a time.

BTW, the beta 6 wiped out my playlist and reset it to the default one. Not sure if that was intentionsl.

After the Beta period, the Playlist interface will be greatly enhanced, with the ability to preview music, re-arrange the list, etc.

As far as Beta6 wiping out the Playlist - all settings are fair game during the Beta Test period.

I would also prefer that instead of storing the playlist in the registry that the Aquarium saves it as a file in a standard playlist format. Then we can manipulate it from outside the Aquarium.

PLS is the format that is recognized by the most programs -- Winamp and iTunes support it as-is. Windows Media Player supports it if you have the right codecs installed.

Have it in the registry by default as most casual users will not be too bothered about the music so this keeps the computer free of opne less file and then in the settings panel you could have a checkbox to ask if the user wants a .pls file to be used instead of the registry and then everyone would be happy!

Sorry, but you haven't convinced me.

"Keeping the computer free of one less file" accomplishes what?

By the way, my Windows XP folder has 24,497 files.

For most home users, the file that Ma3 creates will just appear out of nowhere and might confuse them so having that data stored in the registry by default will eliminate that confusion for less experienced users but those users who want the extra playlist control can just enable the option in the settings panel and the .pls file will be created.

That seems logical and much more user intuitive to me.

Most home users are browsing C:\Program Files\SereneScreen\Marine Aquarium 3\ on a routine basis, looking for extra files? I never had them pegged most as being that curious.
