Unhappy Panther and Marine Aquarium

I am using panther on a g4/733 with Geforce 2 Mx and have installed Marine Aquarium 2.0.

The problem is where it is supossed to be the bubbles I can not see them, I can only see them if I press W and change to lines.

Any ideas, fix or something like it?

Thanks for the heads up on this issue. Other users have reported the same problem and I have seen it myself using a Panther beta build.

Please recognize that Panther is still in beta and, like all beta software, contains numerous bugs which have yet to be resolved (otherwise, it would be ready for general release). The bubbles issue may occur due to one of those bugs. One of our developers has installed the latest Panther release and reports not seeing this problem. We need to try this on other machine configurations (video cards) to see if the problem is indeed corrected by this Panther build.

I have a fix for bubbles problem in Panther. The bug is revealed because Apple now adheres to the OpenGL spec more closely and that revealed a dependency on their incorrect implementation.

We have to QA the update, but it shouldn't be too long to be done.

I've seen MA running on a Panther system, and the jaggies that popped up in Jaguar are still there. Has there been any progress yet in getting those smoothed out?

Thanks!

Dave

I have the Panther fix available for testing. Please contact me through the feedback link on the Order N Dev web site (see the about box of MA) and I'll provide a link.

Hi Helena,

Version 2.0.6 was released before Panther was with the fix for the bubbles. Have you tried it?

Let me know how you do.

Hello Jim, thank you. I had 2.0.1 but after my posting, I re-installed 2.0.6 and it works fine. Everything ok now.

Hello Fernando,

The current version of Marine Aquarium for Mac OS X is 2.0.6. There isn't yet a version 2.1. If you have version 2.0.1 then you have an old version which is known to have the bubbles problem. I just went to the SereneScreen site and checked that the current version for download is in fact 2.0.6, so you should be able to get it there without having to pay anything.
