Don't remember how I found out about it. It was back at least in 2000. I remember Morgan coming up with a list of fish found in the ss and I gave him some feedback. I remember a lot of the .99 versions ending in letters...b, c, d, etc. I probably have them lying around somewhere. Didn't actually register on this forum till much later though.

aloha,
Neil

I read a review of Goldfish Aquarium online somewhere, downloaded it, and registered it within days. Once I found the forum, I knew I had to try MA!

 I really enjoy them both.

I saw a huge display of Marine Aquarium 2 at Sam's Club yesterday, for $13-something. Brace yourselves, forum, there are about to be new members!

Neil,
Given that when Morgan launched feldoncentral.com on December 11th of 2000 the current version was .99D, I'm assuming you didn't discover it much earlier than 2000...

It seems like 3DFiles.com is responsible for bringing quite a lot of users to our crowd. Anybody (Jim?) know if they picked it up themselves or if they were tipped by SereneScreen?

Thanks to Morgan, Tiny Snapshots is up and running again with "Tiny Järvafält" as the latest addition – Go have a look and tell me what you think.

"We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.'
I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.

The first public release came out in, I think, August or September 2000.

I saw the screensaver at "best buy" running on a computer with the the plus pack. That same afternoon I searched the internet for it and found jims website and bought it. I have kept up on all updates and check in everyday to see whats new.

Tiny -

I guess you could say that 3DFIles.com was tipped by SereneScreen. Remember, in those early days I WAS SereneScreen -- the programmer, the artist, the tech-support guy, the website. I was in contact with the editor of 3Dfiles.com, and was happy to let them put the program on their site. After a couple of months, they informed me that it was the first program to reach a million downloads. I don't know why their site went under, but I got a lot of business through them.

No. I spent a year improving it before I put it on the Web.

I first saw it on about 500 monitors at Bowlers in Manchester (been going since it first opened) and scrounged a (ahem) dodgy copy off one of the guys. then a while later I decided to see how it had improved and actually paid for it [Sun Apr 29 10:41:54 2001] still got the original receipt.

I always pirate things first and then pay for them if I use them enough. EG. I downloaded Doom ]I[ about two weeks ago while I waited for my legal copy to arrive (this morning) I don't like cripple ware so I always get a serial or crack from somewhere and then once I decide that a program is for me (IE. I am going to use it more than once or twice) I pay for it.

I am a believer that if someone wants to get a copy of something for nothing they will, and nothing you can do will make them buy it unless they are the type of person who actually buys things, I have registered / bought at least 50+ pieces of online shareware over the years, and believe that piracy has its place in spreading software to people it otherwise would not get to.

I just know I am going to get flamed for this one
