hayc59,
Thanks for the heads up about the newer version. I went to Prolific's website to download the file, they have it there too. I installed it on windows 8.1 and it works fine. It accepted my key code without any problem and seems to run just a little bit smoother, but its such a small amount it might be my imagination. I seem to remember during installation there was an option to view a readme file, but I didn't bother with it. I should have because now I'm curious about what changed. Anyway, it was a nice and welcomed surprise. Addendum/Edit: I went to the SereneScreen folder and found the readme file. It was last updated January 2020 and the last entry is about the Eel being added. Nothing about any of the changes for this update. So it anybody's guess as to what was changed. |

The new version is dated 13th. October 2020 and presumably provides the fix for the "Background colours locks up program" problem discussed here:

Yes, this is the version which fixes the 'background color-change lockup' bug, which was somehow introduced in the recent 'Key-code not sticking' fix.

Finding the link to load it from seems overly difficult. Responding to the link Hayc59 included in his post goes to a third party.. which some might find risky. Tried to find a link from this forum and couldn't. It might be someplace.. but not till Jim responded with his signature could I upgrade my copy.

The Windows version is at https://serenescreen.com/v2/download/windows
You'll still need to tell Windows that the file is safe, as Microsoft hasn't granted a certificate yet.
