The fish textures need an upgrade. I've actually upgraded a few of them in a private version I built for myself.

Yeah, the textures could be sharpened a bit, but it still looks pretty good for a program I designed for 1024x768.

At the time, it was important to me for the entire program (including textures) to fit on a floppy disk.

I didn't know textures were moddable, I need to try that myself. While the meshes are also in need of an upgrade, a texture update would help quite a bit in making MI3 look more modern.

Had to visit the site, as usual lol. Been a while I think. Upgrading to a more modern look would be amazing! I'd easily pay for it! Otherwise, if there is a way for us to do it on our own, I'd love to learn.

The resolution adapts to anything the video card is putting out. Same for the framerate -- the program easily handles 120 fps with 3D glasses.

I understand that aspect. I'm just wondering what it would take to up the textures, improve anything that could push newer tech that we have now. I'd love to learn how to do it.

At 4K/120fps, 3% cpu and 6% gpu are being used hehe.

That being said, I still haven't even seen a screen saver to this day that looks this good.

For some time I've been toying with the idea of re-writing the program in the Unreal Engine, including more detailed textures. The only thing that would make it interesting for me is if someone would come out with a glasses-free 3D system.

I hope you consider doing it, with or without the glasses-free 3d lol. I just started learning Unity. This definitely isn't going to be some amazing idea on my part, but it's quite interesting for sure.

I started with Unity, mostly because of the massive resource store, but it uses C#, which I was never comfortable with. Unreal uses standard C++, and nearly all Hollywood productions have switched to it.

Ahh, point taken. I'll look into it as well. I'm an amateur at best. I can do BASIC, PASCAL, Lua, and.... welp, that's about it. lol

I suggest Udemy online courses for both Unreal and Unity.

Love your screensaver. I'd buy an updated version as well. Maybe you could do a Kickstarter to gage interest?
