Bring Back the Climbing Starfish
Having recently upgraded to 3.0, the first thing I noticed was the starfish no longer appears on the glass (well, that and the fact that there are no more changing light levels). I'd love to see that starfish on the glass again. Developers: please?https://www.feldoncentral.com/forums...milies/lol.gif

The "developers" is Jim Sachs. It's on his To Do list. Oh, and welcome to the forums.

The two items are related. Since there has never been a transition animation of the starfish climbing from the floor onto the glass, it needed total darkness to mask the jump. Without Automatic Lights, there is no more total darkness. A transition animation is on the To-Do list.

Why would a Starfish need to open a clam?

At least, let the starfish move fast as previous version.

"Some species take advantage of the great endurance of their water vascular systems to force open the shells of bivalve mollusks such as clams and mussels, and inject their stomachs into the shells. Once the stomach is inserted inside the shell it digests the mollusk in place. The cardiac stomach is then brought back inside the body, and the partially digested food is moved to the pyloric stomach. Because of this ability to digest food outside of its body, the sea star is able to hunt prey that are much larger than its mouth would otherwise allow including arthropods, and even small fish in addition to mollusks." Don't sound as innocent as they look now do they? They are a huge pest for the commercial oyster farmers. They can't even be chopped up and returned to the sea because they regenerate from parts. |

What do you think of this giant coconut crab?
http://www.magazine13.com/giant-coconut-crab/ Their life is marine only as larvae, so these could be put on the Whishlist for MA. |

Naw, throw that big ol' bug into a pot of boiling water with some pickling spice and plate him up with a nice slice of rare prime rib and you got some top shelf surf and turf right there.

Those crabs are creepy. Some interesting links, FrankGuy. Here's my latest starfish pics taken at the aquarium. One is taken when they have their mouths full of food and seem to suction to the glass to eat. Then a couple ones of really skinny orange ones looking at their refections at the top of the water. And a couple in poses you can project your own interpretation of what they're doing.

That's the beauty of photography - you can get away with anything, because it really happened. If my starfish did that, I'd be a laughingstock.
