Random seaweed bug
Occasionally when I start the aquarium, the seaweed will look sort of blocky, and the way it moves is very distracting. There also seems to be a "rippling" effect around it.
Then I quit and reload the aquarium and the problem is gone, the seaweed is back to being smooth. Anyone know what causes this? |

Turn on the lowest level of AF that you can... Smooths it right out with practically no performance hit. At least with ATI cards...

I get this effect randomly with no change to the settings though.

I understood that, the above "fix" is how I solved the same problem for myself.

Yes it was linked to anio. I think the times I got it was when I had forced anio off rather than being applicaiton controlled.
Explains why the seaweed looks horrible on my Voodoo5 system. No way to get it smooth without AF? I'm amazed by how CPU intensive the aquarium is. I'm getting 100 fps at the lowest resolution (and about the same at 1024x768) meaning that's the limit of my 3 GHz CPU. Of course looking at it, it's not that hard to see where the cycles went. |

Limit your framerate to 62 and check your CPU usage again... What video card are you using anyway? VSYNC status?
Edit: Sorry, I've read your other recent post and you have me confused...

I'm not complaining about the CPU usage, I wouldn't use this screensaver if I am doing something CPU intensive in the background! It's just nice to look at.

Okay, found a partial solution to this on my other (no aniso) Voodoo 5 system. If I run it in 800x600, the problem is basically unnoticible. At 1024x768 though it's very obvious!
