I still want to try that voice chat one of these days, even if we have to do it by 3 way phone call.

I'm not sure if I will be back from an Oregon trip on the 16th. Can we make it the next day?

We can set it for Sunday, sure. I'm going to do an e-mail announcement this time.
Hope to see pictures of the Oregon trip.

/Tiny Nollåtta Thanks to Morgan, Tiny Snapshots is up and running again with "Tiny Järvafält" as the latest addition – Go have a look and tell me what you think.
"We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another." /Robert Oppenheimer on witnessing the first thermonuclear detonation in history. |

Oregon?
I'd like to see your pictures too, Jim, or at least know where you went. I've lived in this lovely state for 20 years now. If you ever need advice as to where to go, let me know. I'm an avid backpacker (spent 40 days alone in the Oregon wilderness last Summer), and could recommend some nice hikes. Or are you more of a city boy?

Great choice of a city, Jim. If I don't move back to Portland in the next year, I'll probably be moving to the Medford/Ashland area. The main office for the branch of the State office I work for is in Medford. The area is much more my style than K-Falls; progressive-minded people, better weather, some culture, the Shakespear Festival.

The mass e-mail didn't happen. Visitors to the forum on Friday afternoon when the website stopped responding for 15-20 minutes know I tried.
But we'll be set up for next time.

And that takes care of today's chat. Next chat will be announced by e-mail. 5,675 to send.

Sorry I couldn't attend, but Morgan knows I tried. Our system here at work is blocking IRC, so I missed out. Hopefully the next chat will be when I'm at home and don't have this problem.

It's announced at the top of the forum for 3 weeks, here on the forum as a separate topic, on the Fan Site, and is typically the 3rd Saturday of every month.
Still, I will be sending out an announcement to everyone for the next chat, but I do not intend to send a message for each chat.

Yeah but I never check the marine aquarium forum because there is nothing "real" new.
But I have to check the banner more often... |

Ok. I am looking at possibly setting up an RSS/XML feed of headlines/news. It would be the back-end for the fan site's News section, plus you can embed the news feed into any other website, into news aggregators like AmphetaDesk, and you can even view this RSS feed on many cell phones.

Ashland Oregon?
That's awesome Jim! I have an aunt & uncle that live there as well. I think that of all the states I've visited, and there have been many, Oregon is the most diverse in it's outdoor activities. Whether it be going to see Crater Lake, camping, kayaking down the Rogue, or the many other things to do there, it's always an adventure. Just thought it was odd that you were moving there since I have relatives there.
I need to go and visit them soon! Michigan is just Michigan. |

Back in California now. Just had the last of my pine trees cut down today. It's sure bare around here now that the bark beetles have finished off the forest.
