SereneScreen Google search hacked?
A google search for the Serenescreen web site currently shows "Viagra for Sale". Is Jim diversifying his product line?

Perhaps he's simply investigating aquarium remedies for people who live in "soft water" locales?

At some time in the future, the "situation" will undoubtedly be corrected. So, I thought it would be useful to post what this discussion is all about.
Googling "serenescreen" produces the following as the "top" hit, which normally means that serenescreen is paying for the privilege of being at the top of the list.

I doubt Prolific is shelling out money to get to the top of the list.. so this could be considered a good thing.. sort of.

The problem has been found and fixed by Prolific, but it will take a few days to filter through the system so that it shows up properly in Google. We don't pay anything to be at the top of the list. We've been there for 10 years.

Looks like Prolific's web server may have gotten broken into. If you do a Google search for prolific, lifeglobe or serenescreen, then select the cached version of the Viagra result page, you'll get to see a text only version of what used to be there. Please be aware that I would be VERY careful about following any of the links at the bottom of that page though! At the very least, I recommend you run a sandboxed browser for that. If I had to guess, I'd say their server got broken into but they caught it and fixed it in a relatively short period of time. Unfortunately, a Google spider got there and crawled it before they were able to do so. Until Google recrawls the server and updates its database, Google searches for prolific, serenescreen and lifeglobe will all show the viagra link. |

Not too surprising - maintenance doesn't seem to be a giant priority. If you go to http://www.prolific.com/ and click on the "Now Hiring" box at the lower left, you get to
http://www.prolific.com/Jobs/ Positions available * MIS Assistant - 4/20/2007 * Web Designer - 4/17/2007 * UI Web Expert - 1/29/2007 On the other hand, I would never have known about the "Funnyfish" product without going to http://www.prolific.com/product/index.php?tid=6 |

I mentioned "Funnyfish"
http://www.lifeglobe.com/product/ Funnyfish - Beta - Windows It's been "Beta" since at least 2007. So, obviously, we shouldn't be concerned that MA3 has been "Beta" for a bit over a year. |

From my point of view all software is Beta, all the time.

However: Funnyfish is still being actively sold as "Funnyfish - Beta", and the .scr file is dated 3 years ago. The point is that Funnyfish has been "called Beta - without any changes, updates, or bug-fixes" for 3 years. There's no evidence of development or support. No "forum", except that patscarr noticed it in December 2007 https://www.feldoncentral.com/forums...ead.php?t=4218 |

It shows just how the relationship between this forum and Prolific has deteriorated that they never even told me about Funnyfish. The price for me trying to hold them accountable.

Prolific's fix has filtered through the searchbots, and a Google search for SereneScreen now comes up with the proper text.
