Cool

does anyone else only see/view 3 fish with plants view? At least with 5 fish before new on 2nd I always saw 5 fish. How can I see/view all 7 fish in the plants view?

You can't. Each view is limited to a different number of fish. With Plants, you can now only do 3.

I think three is a bit few, sometimes when the fish are behind a rock or a plant or swim outside of the tank there is no single fish hope you allow more fish for the next version for the plantview...

Me too, I liked the 5 fish with the previous version. I went back to the first GA install.

On the earlier versions I couldn't run more than one fish. The tail jerking would become too much. On this version I can run three fish with no problem. I am so much happier with this version.

So when are you due for a new video card?

My two cents

I just downloaded the latest beta (strangely, I hadn't heard a word about it until I happened to notice the announcement today). I love the two new fish. I've never liked Cali or Monstro, and was beginning to wonder if I was always going to be limited to the first three. I'm glad to have more choices! IMO, three Freidas should count as one fish. Being so small, she gets lost when there are only three in the tank.
I like the bubbles, the plants seem better defined, and the detail on the rocks is much better. For some reason, my settings for back and foreground illumination are not retained, but revert to the default settings.
"The Tank" is the only one I'll use until the others have some plants. The top view is too disorienting for me. Perhaps if my computer monitor was lying flat on the table and I was suspended above it...
We should definitely be able to have more than 3 fish in the planted tank.
All in all, it seems to be progressing. For many weeks, GA was my default screensaver, but lately I've had MA on. I'd forgotten how beautiful it is! Glad to have choices.

The rock was improved from the initial 0.9 releases.

Documented bug.

I hope we get some comments from the Prolific and Goldfish crew soon. There's equal amounts of praise and criticism this time around.

After running it a couple of days now, I've got mixed feelings on it. Some things do seem to be a step backwards. Here's my $0.02 on it.
The Good:
- The two new fish are nice, I especially like Moby.
- Fish animation is much better, at least on my computer.
- Textures look nicer

The not-so-good:
-Fish selection bug and fish leaving screen issues need to be fixed ASAP. Major, major annoyance.
-I'm glad to see bubbles added, but would rather see a single large column like in MA than the way it is now.
-Please bring back 5 fish! 3 is too few if you have the hardware to handle it.
-Please bring back the plant density selection. I like it better than the new "modes" option.
- The pond view is a cool idea, but it needs plants and a gravel bottom.

GA

The fun of GA is that we plan to experiment.
Until we hit 12 fish (version 1) we plan to try a few more things.

We will be offering more tanks (configurations of the camera, number of plants, etc.), and we are working on a more intelligent system for setting the number of fish allowed on screen.

We will do our best to finalize on a set that makes most happy.

Cool version 3950?

This thread is named version 3950 (July 2). Why in download section of lifeglobe.com I find version 3678 (2003-7-1)? Did I miss something?

EDIT: The release notes describe an earlier version, but they apply to this version.

Embarassed

Thanks, feldon27.

By the way, I didn't receive any notification about the new release. Probably their mail notification system doesn't work properly too.

Notice

Actually, both the Release notes and the Notice work properly.

There is no rule that we are going to update the release notes every single change, if it is small enough, it is not worth our time. Would you like us to dot every “I” and cross every “t” or put more features in the product? (this is a rhetorical question).

As to Updates, same thing. Everyone knows this is beta, if your signed up for email notification, and something big happens, then we will update everyone.

You can always see the most recent news on the site, or all news on www.Prolific.com

Perhaps an announcement in the forum would not be THAT much work. Maybe even add a few comments about what was fixed (and wasn't) if its not too much trouble.
