Cool Starfish is digging into sand at the bottom!!

Jim

It's within tolerance. Matching the arm curl to height above the sand is not an exact science.

Big Grin star fish

I'm kinda bummed cause I've never seen my star fish crawl up on the glass like that......it has been all around, just never on the glass. Maybe it's cause my screen saver doesn't stay on long enough for him to get there....now with the new version since it saves his last position, hopefully I'll get a chance to see it on the glass.

Not complaining.......just talking.

Aloha,
Gerty

Make sure Automatic Lights are on. The starfish will only switch to the glass when the foreground lights are all the way down.

Jim.....
Yeah....I don't think it's a bug anyway...that's why I wanna make sure...

if u can make the animation of the sand been push away by the starfish's leg.....
that'll be very cool......
do u think it's possible....?
in all the version of SSA....the sand at the bottom alway like a still image....
maybe you can make some alter of it.....such as when fish swim fast by the bottom...some sand will eventually dust up?

just a thought...

Don't forget that the sand, coral, and everything else in the background is just a static picture about hafway back in the tank. Morgan has illustrated this excellently in a couple of other threads.

The 3D background will change all this and make many more things possible, that's why it is needed in order for the Aquarium to progress.

Cool Starfish

Ok....So my star fish has been up on the glass for a couple days now. How do I get him back onto the sand? I've tried turning the lights down for over an hour and he won't go back.

Thanks,

To get it back on the sand you could:

1. Just wait. If the foreground lights happen to be off when the starfish touches the sand and is heading down, it will switch to the sand.

2. Turn off "Starfish Allowed on Glass" in the Settings screen.

3. Run Morgan's Registry cleaner. This means you would have to re-enter your Key Code.

4. Find and manually delete the starfish position entry in the Registry.

Well it looks like your aquarium is really true to life Jim. Everytime I have seen a starfish in a real tank it always seems that he is on the front glass and in the way of whatever it is you are trying to look at. I had one for awhile and finally got rid of it, I was always wanting to tear him off of the glass and out of the way.

Reset JUST your Starfish position with this script:

But be careful, there is still that bug, when the "allow starfish on glass" box is unchecked, it will crawl away! Then you have to run this restore starfish reg everytime to bring it back.

Will this mentioned feature: "some sand will eventually dust up" be possible with the 3D background? This means every little piece of the sand or gravel must be a real 3D object. This would also be a prerequisite for the "fish eats sand and spits out" - feature. Would be great, and nothing is impossible (especially for Jim) but that sounds a bit too much work.

Now this is a good one.

Jim, I seem to have done something to my poor starfish, after the screensaver as been on for some time my starfish has stretched out so far that it stretches from the bottom to the top of the screen. It looks like chewing gum in three strips with no body shape. The strips seem to move also up and down.

I don't seem to be able for some reason, take a snapshot of this with Hypersnap, but I can tell you it looks weird.

My PC
P111 866
512 PC133 Ram
Voodoo5 5500

Mate, it looks terrible, the fish seem to just move about and are not affected.

Cheers
Dennis
