Smile NVMax

NVMax is a great, free program that brings all the settings you'll ever need for an Nvidia card. Including the ability to adjust or turn on or off your V-Sync settings.

You should be able to get NVmax (version 4.00.47) here:

NV-Max should be compatable with all nVidia chipsets and drivers, and it is a seperate program that lets you tweak just about every setting that is available.

The new NVMax is a total redesign from prior versions. It requires a 2x.xx driver version. I've taken the plunge with 23.11 drivers on my GeForce 2 MX 200. I will find out the hard way what the reliability and stability is like...

With vsync turned off, I am getting 62fps at 1024x768 with limit frames to 60 turned off. I turn off the bubble column and it jumps to 70. I tried 1280x1024 and it's a choppy 30-35fps.

To get good detail and smooth motion in Wolfenstein I seem to have to drop back to 800x600.

Is a GeForce 2 MX 400 that much faster at 1024x768? Are there any settings I can tune?

Well thats the pitts, and totally stupid. NvMax used to work with any driver version that you had installed. Why in the world would they want to limit the use of their program like that.

I do know that nvreffix doesn't work with the newer beta drivers. The author said something to the effect that nVidia changed a lot of things and it installs differently and/or has different values. I klnow that the 23.11 drivers are a lot different than previous versions because of this fact.

I would think that the authors would have designed NvMax to be able to tell the different driver installs and adjust accordingly. I guess not. Oh well, I use RivaTuner any ways. It has all the adjustment I could want. In fact, if CoolBits worked right with the 23.11s, I wouldn't even be using RivaTuner.
