Ok, the rollover is working fine at last, but I just had another Java(?) crash.
Btw, I never liked chatrooms although for interactive stuff like this there surely is some advantage over a messageboard. Well maybe some other time, because I really have to get some sleep now.

Just upgraded the forum to 2.2.6 too. Only took an hour and a half.

Is there any desire to update the look of the forum too?

For example...

Thanks to Morgan, Tiny Snapshots is up and running again with "Tiny Järvafält" as the latest addition – Go have a look and tell me what you think.

"We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.'
I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.

Thanks for all the work Feldon.

It all looks great.

BTW, when I used to do a lot of web sites I used to CURSE Netscape!

The problem was always that their browser would do things totally different from what their docuimentation and the HTML specs would say it was supposed to do. Heck, in half the cases the spec was made because of a feature Netscape invented and yet they were not displaying it correctly. Now that they are part of AOL, I imagine it's 10 times worse since AOL doesn't seem to have yet gotten the memo that their are public standards out their to make the public Internet friendly and useful for EVERYONE.
Bat rays? We don't need no stinking bat rays!

Netscape is down to 5% of the browser market and slipping lower every day. One day I won't have to design my pages to work on Netscape anymore. It's a shame to say that, but it's just too much trouble.

And before I'm accused of being a Microsoft flunkie, guys, it's not that I like Internet Explorer, it's just that it renders pages properly without crashing (on Windows 2000/XP--I can't comment on 98/ME).

I wish the Netscape vs. Internet Explorer browser war could have been fought fair-and-square, with both products being separate $25 items you had to buy. Then Netscape would have had the money to innovate and improve their product.

I still think IE would have won, but it would have won by actually being the better browser instead of by being bundled.

I have been using Netscape since version 2.0 and back in those days there wasn't any problem because all websites were written for Netscape. Netscape 3 was fantastic and very stable, but they screwed up with v.4 and of course the rest is history. Now that Netscape is on the right track again I am certainly not going to switch to IE. I am however thinking of switching to Mozilla to be closer to the source, and most importantly to get rid of all that AOL crap.

I will always keep trying to avoid M$ products whenever I can. Anyone else besides me still using WordPerfect office?

Yes, I remember Netscape 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0 fondly.

Switching to Mozilla might be a good idea when 1.0 gets serious. Ok, maybe 1.1.

And I won't argue that Microsoft Word is bloatware.

I am simply describing the circumstance. What Microsoft did to Netscape was unforgiveable and, in my opinion, criminal.

So um, any opinion on color scheme for the forum entry page?

And does the website seem to be working well enough for me to proceed?

1. The six first link in the navbar to the left move a pixel up and to the right when highlighted. The last two don't (which IMHO looks better)
I think this is an optical illusion.

I like the second example, but with the green a little brighter for contrast.

I compared it in Netscape and IE and it looks practically the same. No differences in font-size or anything. Just a little extra space between "Like, news and stuff..." and the e-mail address in Netscape. So go ahead.

Morgan, I like the first color scheme better than the second....Are you limited to just those 2 schemes or is there more to choose from?????

Great job on the website update by the way...

I could do any color scheme in the world, any design. vBulletin is completely customizable. Which is the problem. Complete freedom = complete madness. hehe

I could do a lightly faded tiled fish background to the page or behind the headings, for example.

Yup. Using Windows' magnifying tool I now agree that it doesn't, but only appears to move a pixel or so. - Sorry.

That could be cool Can you give us a preview at what that might look like...if it's not too much trouble

Morgan,

I spotted a few things while I was looking over the prototype page, here's what shows up for me using IE (version pasted into image):

Thanks for the thorough diagrams. Please read through this topic (specifically the Netscape screaming) for explanations why those dots exist in the navbar.

As for the dots on the left, I really am not concerned about those. They are the secret for how I preload my rollovers without java.
