Unhappy Number of fish

As I new owber I am VERY disappointed to find that I cannot have more than 7 fish at a time in the screensaver. If I had known, I would not have spent $20 of hard earned money on this application, and wish I could get a refund.

Years ago I had a great screen saver where you could have as many fish as you selected. I do think Marine Aquarium is a beautiful application, but is there ANYWAY to ovecome the number limitation. ALSO, it does not recognize that I have a wide screen monitor so I cannot get even the 8th fish!

Fish Count

Hi Jay,

The note about the "8th Fish Widescreen Only" explains that the last slot is only used in widescreen mode. It doesn't become a fish slot if you have a widescreen, because then it would be the 9th fish. This UI has caused a few people to be confused, and will probably be changed in upcoming releases if anyone can suggest a better way.

This was just described on a thread http://feldoncentral.com/forums/show...?threadid=2718

You may want to try entering wireframe mode (the 'w' key) and counting how many fish are in your aquarium.

Jim Sachs, the artist and original author of Marine Aquarium, decided that with more than 7 fish in a 4:3 tank and more than 8 fish in a 16:10 tank the fish spent too much time running into each other and the behavior was unnatural.

Thank you for your post.

It would look unrealistic and cluttered to have more than 8 fish.

The best way to see the differences between the "normal" tank and the "wide" tank is to run the application and change the size of the window to approximate the proper aspect ratio. When you run full-screen (either in the application or by using the screensaver), the orientation will be chosen for you based on the closest match of the monitor's aspect ratio (determined by the resolution of the monitor which is used).
