Where can you get a program to 'rip out' DX9. I think I want to rid myself of it. It is the reason the screen freezes when spacebar is press.

Ok, gotta put the disclaimer first.

Please remember that Microsoft's solution to downgrading DirectX is to remove and reinstall Windows. The DirectX removal programs may have drastic effects on your computer!

I successfully ripped out DirectX 8.1 completely and then installed DX7 with no problem with these tools.

I used DirectX Eradicator. He has a version up which is supposed to remove DirectX 9. It makes me nervous that he considers this beta software.

I went from DX9 to DX8.xx with XP restore. There was no problem. I later reinstalled DX9, also with no problem.
Bat rays? We don't need no stinking bat rays!
